Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Tetsucabra

By
Vincent Lau

Tetsucabra is a new monster in a new monster class—Amphibians! Like a true frog, Tetsucabra’s claim to fame is its powerful leaps and, as a result, hard hitting jump attacks. Tetsucabra also possesses two enormous tusks it can use like a forklift to heave and throw boulders at you, along with a potent spit.

**Area** **Start** **Roam** **Rest**
Sunken Hollow 8 1, 2, 3 9
Frozen Seaway 6 3, 4, 5, 7, 9 6

Attacks

Tetsucabra is probably one of the first monsters you will run into with an immobilizing roar. In the future, invest in Earplugs to help you continue to attack even when a monster roars. If you have a shield, your shield can guard you from a roar. When Tetsucabra goes into Rage Mode, its tail will engorge and become white.

Leaping Bulldozer: Tetsucabra will use this primarily in Rage Mode. It will pounce at you once, then turn around and pounce again. As a finisher attack, Tetsucabra will then attempt to mow you over with its tusks.

Forklift: Tetsucabra will lift either a small or large boulder from the ground using its tusks. If it is a small boulder, it will simply be held in its tusks and will damage you if you touch it. Larger boulders take longer to lift but will damage you for more. They will also obstruct your path if Tetsucabra drops the boulder and leaves it there.

Boulder Crush: If Tetsucabra is holding the boulder in its jaws, it will use its mighty power to crush the boulder, sending fragments flying everywhere.

Boulder Toss: Tetsucabra will dig into the ground to the left and/or right, then fling rocks at you.

Side Stomp: If you are attacking Tetsucabra from the side, watch out for this attack. Tetsucabra will lift up its front and hind limbs on one side of its body, then bring them both crashing down to send you flying.

Claw Swipe: Tetsucabra’s claw swipe attack is very simple and small, but is capable of tripping you and leaving you open to damage from further, more powerful attacks.

Dashing Charge: Tetsucabra will lean back, and then dash towards you to try and gore you with its tusks.

Pounce: Tetsucabra will roar threateningly and then pounce at you. Oftentimes this attack is used to start a combo, especially when enraged.

Spitball: Tetsucabra will spit a giant green spitball in your direction. This will deplete your stamina so watch out. It is fairly easy to see coming and dodge.

Jump Attack: Tetsucabra will jump up and then land heavily to crush you. This attack causes minor tremors.

Breakable Parts

Tusks: The tusks can be broken twice.

Back: The best way to break Tetsucabra’s back is by mounting multiple times.

Back Leg: Each leg can be broken once. Legs will be visibly chipped and damaged.

Weaknesses

Elemental: Water, Thunder

Status: Poison, Blast
