Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Zamtrios

By
Vincent Lau

Zamtrios lives in the cold, finding home in the frozen seas.

Capable of burrowing through ice and swimming through water like a shark, Zamtrios also is a powerful jumper, befitting of its status as Amphibian. When enraged, Zamtrios will cover itself in an armor of ice. Zamtrios also possesses the unique ability to greatly inflate its body like a pufferfish, thanks to its elastic belly skin.

Attacks

Swipe: A simple attack, Zamtrios will simply swipe forward at you. Can be rolled through or blocked easily.

Charge: Zamtrios’s charges come in multiple flavors. When not enraged, Zamtrios will charge once in a single bound. When enraged, Zamtrios will charge multiple times. Before its charge, Zamtrios will always wind up in a pose reminiscent of a cat about to pounce.

360 spin: When enraged, Zamtrios will often combo a charge into this. Zamtrios will “wind up” similar to a charge, but instead of charging, will spin. With a large range, this attack can be hard to dodge if you are already close to Zamtrios’s body.

Ice Breath: Zamtrios wields a powerful ice breath that he will sweep from right to left. It will inflict Iceblight, so bring Nulberries.

Shark Attack: Zamtrios will sometimes dive into the sea below the ice and then come shooting back up to land like a torpedo. Before Zamtrios does this, shaking ice and tremors will indicate where it is about to surface.

Bounce: When Zamtrios becomes inflated, its attack pattern will change dramatically. This is one of the attacks it can perform. It will jump up into the air and come crashing down, causing tremors.

Roll: Also exclusive to when Zamtrios is inflated, it will roll around like a ball.

Ice Balls: Also exclusive to when Zamtrios is inflated, it will begin spitting up ice balls that will land in random places. These will cause Snowman status.

Deflation Attack: This attack will signal the deflation of Zamtrios and the end of its rage mode. It will send you flying and inflict Iceblight. Thankfully, it doesn’t hit for too much damage, which is good because it can be hard to predict when Zamtrios will deflate.

Breakable Parts

Head: A scar will appear on Zamtrios’s face

Claws: Can be broken individually

Tail: Will appear to have a white scar once broken

Dorsal Fin: Best broken by mounting successfully multiple times

Weaknesses

Elemental: Thunder, Fire
