Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Gypceros

By
Vincent Lau

Gypceros is a funny, chicken-like bird wyvern with a rubbery hide that can stretch to attack farther. Capable of using poison spit to knock you over and drain your health, Gypceros’s silly mannerisms are no excuse to not take the fight seriously!

**Area** **Start** **Roam** **Rest**
Ancestral Steppe 2 4, 6, 7, 8 9
Sunken Hollow 3 1, 5, 6 7
Primal Forest 2 5, 6, 7 9

Attacks

Poison Spit: Gypceros will spit a ball of poison in front of itself. It will grow and pool.

Side Chomp: The classic side chomp attack, and just as nonthreatening as usual.

Triple Peck: Gypceros will run towards you and then peck around 3 – 4 times. If it hits you, Gypceros will thieve a random item from your bag. It can be something useless, like one Paintball, or it can be your last Mega Potion or that one trap you brought. You can’t recover the item either.

Leaping Triple Peck: Gypceros instead of running, will jump onto you and then pick. Thankfully, this won’t steal an item.

Poison Spit-and-Run: Gypceros will run forward like a headless chicken, spewing poison left and right. Watch out for the poison!

Flash: Gypceros will use its crest to create a blinding flash. You can guard it with a shield. If the crest is broken, Gypceros will fail to perform this attack.

Tail Whip: Gypceros can do two 180 tail swings, but since its tail is rubbery, the tail will stretch as it whips, enhancing the range by quite a bit. Be careful.

Side to Side Tail Whip: If Gypceros is too lazy to turn around and attack you, it will simply whip its tail from side to side while standing stationary. Again, its tail will stretch.

Flying Charge: If Gypceros is far from the hunter, he may try to fly towards you.

Hop Back: This isn’t an attack but it causes low wind pressure.

Fake Death: This is Gypceros’s signature attack. Partway through the quest, Gypceros will fall over and seem to be dead. You can even carve it. But if the Quest Complete fanfare isn’t playing, you’d better watch out. Gypceros will revive and then send you flying. If you absolutely must, you can grab a carve.

Breakable Parts

Crest: The crest will be broken off. This disable’s Gypceros’s flash attack.

Weaknesses

Elemental: Fire, Ice

Status: Blast
