With the job complete in Northern France, here we see Karl Fairbournce spend a few dollars on some DLC to enable him to head to Austria in the first of Sniper Elite 5’s DLC / Season Pass missions - Wolf Mountain. And who lies in wait there? It’s only Adolf Hitler - this is a step up from your previous Kill List targets isn’t it.
Let’s have a look at the objectives Wolf Mountain brings.
Objective¶
Assassinate the Fuhrer¶
- Find Hitler
- Kill Hitler
Pretty simple this. You need to find and Kill Adolf. He’s not difficult to locate but he is guarded. There are lots of different ways of offing him, beyond a simple bullet. In fact, there’s an achievement by killing him with a shot to the, er testicle. You can check out our Kill List article on how to kill Hitlet more imaginatively, if you need a little guidance.
Besides this, the map looks nice and is varied, although you really don’t have to go far if all you want to do is get in, shoot Hitler and exfiltrate. You can probably do it it under five minutes which is disappointing. If you want to plan something more extravagant however, you will definitely get more from the DLC.
Optional Objectives¶
Neutralise Anti-Air Guns¶
- Destroy Anti-Air Guns (x2)
Neutralise Radio Communications¶
- Option A Sabotage Radio Tower
- Option B Disable the radio equipment
These two optional objectives have appeared throughout several missions in Sniper Elite and it would have been nice to have some fresh secondaries to ponder on rather than the standard, cut the cable, destroy the box, plant satchel on gun. It just seemed a bit lacking in imagination.
Also, if you have read any of our other Wolf Mountain content you will know we encountered several bad bugs along the way. We encountered another here. Upon sabotaging the first cable to the radio tower, the game insisted it was the second and toppled the tower anyway.
When looking for the second AA gun, the map marker was in totally the wrong place. So while we suggest doing the optionals for completion’s sake, don’t expect it to be a polished experience unfortunately.
