The German Karabiner ’98 is one of the most powerful stopping weapons in the game, even at stock. Like other Axis weaponry it can be a bit of a pain to handle, but if you can get yourself accustomed to its poor stability you will find you have a deadly piece of equipment in your hands.
Karabiner ’98 Pros and Cons¶
The Germans developed a weapon here that was purely designed to kill with the minimum of fuss. A Hugely powerful rifle was plagued once again with poor aiming and slow rate of fire, but if you get the shots off you won’t need many to accomplish your mission.
Pros¶
- Extremely high damage
Cons¶
- Poor aim stability
- Very slow firing
Audible Range¶
At 140m it is a pretty noisy beast and definitely needs to benefit from a suppressor, so if you find one lying around it is worth picking up, or failing that you will unlock the gun by completing the kill challenge in Mission two.
Zoom¶
The 6x zoom compared to the Allies general 8x ability might not sound like much, but when coupled with a long aim-time and general stability problems, everything comes together to make it a bit of a nightmare to use. Due to its high stopping power however it may well be a compromise you are prepared to make though.
Magazine size¶
A magazine size of five is far from great, but within those five is the potential to cause terrific damage. This is a powerful gun that should not be underestimated when you see it dropped by a fallen foe.
How to get the Karabiner 98 in Sniper Elite 5¶
The Karabiner ’98 is unlocked by completing the Kill Challenge in Mission 2 Occupied Residence.
