The third star in Bob-Omb Battlefield will have you flying, literally, through the sky. Your goal is to make it to the floating island, which is only possible in a single way. When you finally begin the stage and choose this star, if you didn’t before, you want to speak with the Bob-Omb Buddy that is on the raised platform near your starting position. This will open the cannons for you to use, which will be needed in order to reach the floating island. There are five cannons in Bob-Omb Battlefield and they are located in the following positions:

  • Right next to your starting position
  • Straight ahead from your starting position, in the open field before Chain Chomp
  • In open field after crossing wooden bridge past Chain Chomp
  • On ledge right before the spinning heart on mountain
  • On the floating island

(1 of 2) Aim too low and you’ll hit the island itself

Aim too low and you’ll hit the island itself (left), This is a good spot to shoot yourself, as you will grab the tree (right)

The only two cannons that should be able to reach the floating island are the second and fourth ones from the list above. If using the fourth cannon on the list, then the shot is a pretty easy one to make, but make sure you aim for the tree, as that gives you an extra safety net of not overshooting the island. If you’re using the second cannon, then the shot will need to be a little more precise. When in the cannon, you should be able to see the top of the tree on the island, so aim the reticle at it. Once you have the reticle pointed at the tree, move it straight up and try to give it an inch or so in between the bottom of the reticle and the top of the tree.

If done right, you should be able to launch yourself and either “slide” onto the island or launch yourself into the tree, grabbing it. If you hit the side of the island, try the cannon again and aim slightly higher the second time. However you get onto the floating island, look for the yellow box and hit it from below to make the Power Star appear.
