Description¶
This page offers a walkthrough of the Surfing 101 Power Star in Loopdeeloop Galaxy. This is the third galaxy you will unlock in the Terrace dome, which you will need 5 Power Stars. Surfing 101 is the first introduction to the Ray Surfing minigame in Mario Galaxy and is one of the motion controlled focused levels.
The Tutorial¶
To start you simply need to go forawrd and talk to the penguin coach waiting for you at the start of the racecourse.
To start the mini game talk to the Penguin Coach
This will then warp you onto the Manta Ray to which you are then shown how to steer through motion controls. Once you have completed the short tutorial that has you tilt your switch or joycons/controller left and right to turn and hold down B to accelerate, you will be warped to the start of the course.
How to control the Manta Ray
Once you start the course you simply have to make it to the end. The goal of this level is to collect as many coins and star bits as you can and the occasional 1-Up mushroom in the shortest time possible. There are no enemies in this galaxy, just penguins who cheer Mario on from the sidelines. The only danger to you is that you can fall off the sides when you’re riding the Manta Ray.
Keep an eye out for 1-Up Mushrooms on the course
After you have passed the finish line you are warped to the Prize Planet to claim your Power Star. All you need to do is jump to the well deserved first place position on the podium.
