Description¶
This level is available once you have access to the Planet of Trials, which is unlocked by collecting the three Green Stars in levels Luigi under the Saucer, The Secret of Buoy Base and Treasure of the Pyramid. This level is found within Loopdeeswoop Galaxy, not to be confused with Loopdeeloop Galaxy found in the Terrace dome.
Riding the Waves¶
To ride the waves on the back of the Ray, you’ll need to use motion controls to tilt in whichever direction you want to go. You’ll also need to press A to accelerate, though you don’t always need to be pressing the A button. In fact, you’ll want to be careful when to hold down A for a big acceleration and when to only tap A to slow down.
The race course itself is straightforward, but it is a lot longer than the level in Loopdeeloop Galaxy, so whilst you won’t need to recklessly zoom through it by constantly holding down the accelerate button, you will need to be fast in some areas. There are also a couple of harder turns and areas with narrow waterways, but nothing too extreme. There are a few steep drops during the course, but they aren’t too difficult to navigate, just don’t accelerate whilst mid-air and you should land fine.
This level isn’t as difficult as you expect as long as you follow the water racecourse and make sure to manage your accelerations well. Don’t forget, the motion controls can be a bit sensitive, so don’t make any harsh tilts or movements with your controller/console and you shouldn’t have any issues with the controls aspect of the level.
The maximum amount of time you have to do it is three minutes and the best time is a minute and half. If you hold A when you come to straight sections of the course and then slow down and tap A when going round corners then you should have no issue making it well within the time, if not faster than the record time. When you reach the end within the time, you’ll earn yourself a Power Star!
