It’s time to track down the eight Red Coins in Shifting Sand Land, all of which are outside of the pyramid, so you will not even need to take a step inside it. Upon starting the level, turn around to the left and you should see a Red Coin in the distance. This coin is precariously located on a very thin ledge, with a slope on one side that causes Mario to slide instantly, and some quicksand that will pretty much instantly KO Mario should he touch it. Move slowly once the path narrows, then collect Red Coin #1. Return to the starting point and head to the stone structure, where you’re looking for the large, breakable block in the ground level. Break it to find Red Coin #2.
Continue on with the level, going to the walkways with the Tox Boxes, where you will find Red Coin #3. Make your way past the Tox Boxes, to the oasis, and you will find Red Coin #4 in the water. That takes care of half the Red Coins, but the remainder will all be in the air, so you will need to grab a Wing Cap. There is a Wing Cap block found right next to the main entrance of the pyramid, which is a perfect spot, as all of the floating Red Coins are located near the four towers. Taking flight from the top of the towers is ideal, as you can grab the Red Coin, then fly to the next one. It’s best to do two at a time, then go back to refresh your Wing Cap. Once you collect all eight Red Coins, the star will spawn on top of the stone structure.
