In Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion, the DMW plays a large role in combat. When the reels stop on the same image three times, you’ll get a limit break or summon. This page will tell you how to get the Chocobo Summon.

Chocobo | Deals physical defense-ignoring damage to all enemies present. |
The Chocobo is the first in a series of summons you can unlock during Chapter 3 of the main story. Unless you went out of your way to get the Tonberry and/or Magic Pot ones, it might be your first Chocobo Mode summon, too. Chocobo Mode functions pretty much similarly to Summon Mode, and will be activated in the same manner, by pushing in both sticks.
How to Unlock the Chocobo Summon in Crisis Core Reunion¶
To get started, you won’t be able to get this summon until you’ve reached Chapter 3 of the main story. During this portion of the story, the Shinra Building will be attacked, as well as Midgar. Upon completing that section, you will head to Mako Reactor 5 and witness a lengthy cutscene with Sephiroth. Once you regain control here, you should notice one of the side paths where there’s a ladder. Approach this ladder to not only unlock a Mail (Treasure Princess - Recruitment), but also Mission 8-4-1.
This mission will be pretty easy to do and is a part of a chain that involves a certain Wutai ninja friend (fans of Final Fantasy VII will obviously recognize her). It is worth doing these missions, as you get the Darkness Materia as a reward from the final one, which is quite a powerful attack. To get back on track, you only need to complete the very first mission, Suspicious Mail 1, to unlock the Chocobo Feather key item, which will give you the Chocobo Summon for the DMW.
