Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion

How to Level Up Materia Easily

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Easy and hands free approach to leveling up materia in Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion.

You will obtain a lot of materia in Crisis Core Reunion, all of which can be leveled up while in combat. However, the way to level up Materia seems a bit random, since you are reliant on the DMW. Normally, you just wait and hope the DMW lands on the same pictures for the left and right to trigger Limit Verge/Modulating Phase. Once that is done, you then need to have the numbers match during that mode. The numbers matching will level up the Materia in that corresponding slot one or two times (two matches or three).

As you can see, it’s a bit random and a little complicated, too, especially if you’re getting fights that don’t last a lot of time. However, it doesn’t really matter what enemies you are fighting, so it’s possible to go to an early game mission to fight very weak enemies, then just let the DMW run over and over. In fact, that’s the idea behind this trick here. Even better is that with the right setup, you don’t even need to be at the controller and can do this while you do other things in real life.

How to Easily Level Materia in Crisis Core Reunion

The general purpose of this trick will use the very first mission you unlocked in the game, Mission 1-1-1. This pits you against "Sentry" iconSentry troops that are very weak. Fight them until you see Sentry G and Sentry H on your screen, which are the final two enemies. Being very careful with your strikes, defeat one of them and you’ll be left with a single troop. From here, the only thing you need to do now is sit back and just wait for the levels for your Materia to roll in. You shouldn’t need any healing or worry about SP, as the Limit Breaks that appear during the course of the battle will keep you healed, as well as give you plenty of SP.

(1 of 3) Leave a single enemy alive so the DMW can do its magic

Despite doing this as early in the game as possible, you should probably hold off until a little later in the main story. That’s because you only start with four Materia slots and will unlock two more as you progress the story. So, instead of just trying to level four Materia, you will be able to try and level six of them. This method is also a pretty nice way to grind some Soldier Points in the early game, although it’s far from the best thing for that. Unfortunately, despite the hands-off approach, you’re still left to the mercy of the random DMW.

Mastered Materia make it great for fusion, as well as just converting them to SP, especially later in the game.
