There are a few mission rewards worth having like the Wall that has MAG+60 attached to it, Ultima, or SP Turbo Attack Materias, although you may already have them at this stage of the game. Then a couple of the treasure chests will reward you with 80,000 SP, 200,000 Gil. Whatever the reason you have to do them, you’ll need to complete them for the Mission Completionist trophy/achievement.
Mission 3-5-1: Intercept the Copies¶
Complete M3-4-6 to start this mission. This mission is a relatively big map containing three chests which contain an X-Potion, Hammer Punch, and Kaiser Knuckles. Starting the mission in the southwest, head north, and east until you reach the first intersection. Take the southern path to find the first chest then head back to the intersection and continues east right to the end where you’ll find the second chest in the southern room.
Once again, head back to the intersection, take the northern path until you reach the final intersection, and head east for the final chest. Next, go back to the intersection and take the northern path around until you reach the boss. Throughout the area expect to encounter the following enemies: G Centurion, G Guardian, and Hellhounds. The boss will be the same as the last mission in the previous category, a G Purgatorio. This shouldn’t cause you too many problems, just make sure you guard/dodge its Rip combo attack.
Mission 3-5-2: Attack the Copies’ Base¶
Complete M3-5-1 to start this mission. Another big map, that has G Purgatorios, and Bee Saucer IVs, in its random encounters. There are only two chests to find here which contain a Platinum Bangle accessory, and 80,000 SP! You’ll be starting in the center of the map this time, and if you want to get the 80,000 SP, you’ll need to go in the opposite direction of the boss. Turn around and follow the path to the room in the far east to get the chest.
Now run back to the starting position, and follow the path west, south, and east until you reach the intersection. Continue east, and follow it to the end for the final chest. Make your way back to the intersection, and take the southern path to find the boss. This battle will have you fight several G Intruders. They have nothing special other than a couple of ranged attacks, and a melee combo, but you can take them all out relatively quickly by repeatedly using Aerial Drain.
3-5-3: Genesis’s Special Ops Unit¶
Complete M3-5-2 to start this mission. Although this map is on the larger side, it only has two chests to open which contain a Flare Materia and a Shinra Beta+ accessory. Starting in the west, leave the room and head south then east until you reach the intersection where you’ll want to head north to get the first chest. Go back to the intersection, and continue east then north where you’ll find the final chest on your right, near the barrier. Continue north, west, and north again at the intersection to meet the boss. Throughout this map, you’ll encounter the following enemies: G Intruder, G Purgatorio, and Bee Saucer IV.
The boss on this map will be the deadly G Hetairos. It has a lot of health sitting at 418,750 HP, and it can deal significant damage with its attacks. Throughout the battle, it’ll cast “Rampage” which will buff its attacks making them all Critical Hits. When you combine that with its Claw Attack you’ll find yourself taking a lot of damage. Finally, it has an ability charge attack called Stranglehold which can deal a massive amount of damage if you don’t interrupt it. Use your strongest attacks like Costly Punch to deal damage to the monster, and Aerial Drain to top up your health if needed.
3-5-4: Chase the Copies¶
Unlocked by completing M3-5-3. This mission will only have four chests to open, and these will contain an Elixir, Dark Matter, Mythril, and an Exploder Blade Materia. Starting the mission in the south, immediately go west for the first chest then head back to the starting point. Now follow the long winding path north, east, and north again for the second chest just before the intersection. At the intersection, go into the room north for the third chest then go west at the intersection until you reach a large open area. The final chest will be in the southwest corner of this room. After you open the chest continue west to reach the boss. Expect to encounter the following enemies on this map: G Intruder, Bee Saucer IV.
The boss of the area will be a couple of G Intruders, and a G Enforcer. Take out the G Intruders first as they have little health then fight it out with the G Enforcer. This enemy is the same as a G Guardian other than its higher stats, and the fight will play out the same way. Avoid their Death Scythe and Lifeshaver attacks as it’ll heal them, and be sure to interrupt their ability charge attack “Stranglehold”, and you’ll be fine. Like always, use Costly Punch for damage, and Aerial Drain to replenish your health.
3-4-5: Defeat the Copies¶
Unlocked by completing M3-5-4. This map is the smallest one of the category, with only one chest containing a Phoenix Down. You’ll start the mission in the far southeast. From the starting point, head north, west, and then south at the intersection for the chest. Head back to the intersection, and head towards the boss at the end of the path to the west. While you traverse this map, expect to fight the following enemies: G Enforcer, and G Hetairos.
The boss of this area are several G Hoplites. These are relatively weak enemies, although they can cast stop on you with their Shadow Stitch attack. Similar to the G Intruder boss earlier, repeatedly use Aerial Drain to take them all down.
3-4-6: The Last of the Genesis Troops¶
The final mission of the sub-category will be unlocked when you complete M3-5-5. Although the map itself is relatively big, there are only two chests to open which contain the following items: Phoenix Down, and a Dark Matter. Starting the mission in the southeast corner, follow the path west, north (past the intersection), and west again until you reach the second intersection. Take the southern path to get to the first chest, then head back to the intersection, and follow that path west, north, and east until you reach the next intersection. At this intersection, continue east and open the final chest in the large room before continuing to find the boss in the far eastern room. Throughout the area, you’ll encounter the following enemies: G Hoplite, G Enforcer, and Crazy Sword.
The final boss of this category is a G Renegade, accompanied by a Crazy Sword. This is a relatively easy battle as long as you’re prepared. The Crazy Sword will regularly use its Drill Attack which has the chance to cause instant death. Thankfully, the Safety Bit accessory can be equipped to stop this from happening which you can buy from the Nibel Accessories shop for 5,000 Gil. If you equip it or not, that is your choice, but either way take out the Crazy Sword first as it’ll just be a hindrance before the real fight. Now it’ll be just you vs the G Renegade.
The toughest part of this battle is the G Renegades Damage buff when it combines it with its Combo Attack. This can deal significant damage if you get hit by all the attacks. Also, it has the Gunblade attack which can stun you if you’re hit by it, but this is easily avoided by rolling either side of it. When its health starts to drop, it’ll cast Curaga unless you interrupt it.
