Materia is one of the most important features in Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII: Reunion, with there being many powerful ones in the game. This page will detail how to get the Gravity Materia early.
Early in the game, you will likely run into some missions where the enemies are quite a challenge over the earlier ones. This is possibly because you don’t have a lot of options in reducing their health quickly enough. Thankfully, there is one Materia at the beginning of Chapter 2 that does just this, Gravity. One of the most important things to note about Gravity is that it won’t actually kill enemies. This is because it only does percentage damage to the enemy. Despite this, Gravity can do a lot of damage to enemies that are susceptible to it.
Where to Find the Gravity Materia Early in Crisis Core Reunion¶
You will need to progress the main story until you’ve reached Chapter 2. At this point, you will need to speak with Tseng to continue the story, but there’s a ton of optional content you can do at this stage. If you exit the Briefing Room, you will have a short conversation with Kunsel and he will bring you outside of the Shinra Building, to Sector 8. There’s a bunch of things you can do out here, but in order to get the Gravity Materia, you will need to head back inside the Shinra Building.
You have it pointed out to you, but just go down the alley right behind where you first appear in Sector 8 to get back inside the building. Once inside, go to the second floor and interact with either of the doors here. You will have the option to choose two different sections, but you will want to go to the SOLDIER Floor. Ignore the plea to return to the Briefing Room and locate the save point on this floor. Near the save point will be a room labeled Materia Room. Go into this room and speak to the Researcher with the orange icon. He will give you a new set of missions to complete, with the first one being Mission 8-2-1.
Complete that mission to unlock the next, and continue this until you reach Mission 8-2-5. This is a four star mission, which might be a little challenging at the beginning of Chapter 2, but you get a Fira Materia from one of the chests and the enemies you fight at the end are weak to fire. Clearing this mission will net you the ATK Mako Stone as a reward.
