Andreas of Ebb is one of the quest NPCs in the Skyrest Safe Hub. This character is very keen on your Umbral Lamp from your early introductions in the area, yet the poor lad is worked up over his book. If you happen to speak to Andreas when he takes residence in one of the cells in the Skyrest Bridge, he’ll tell you he lost his book. To assist this nerd with his literacy exam, here’s a guide to finding the Andreas of Ebb book location in Lords of the Fallen.
Andreas of Ebb’s book location¶
When you’re part way through the game, Andreas will tell you that he lost his book fighting a creature more monster than manmade The location of said creature is very close to Skyrest Bridge. However, it is directly on the other side of the door that leads to the Upper City of Calrath, so, you sadly have some exploring you need to do first. If you have already unlocked the Upper City, then you can fast travel there, and go towards the castle rampart area of the city. Climb a ladder and then go through the stone tower, and you’ll find a memory in the Umbral that you can use to get Andreas’ Book.
However, if you have not yet unlocked Calrath City, you will need to explore. When you beat the Calrath Slums boss, you will unlock the Mining District of the city. Explore the street of Mining District, and reach the point where you climb a stair area leading to a small building with a cracked roof. From there, you want to enter the tower area on the inside, guarded by fire dogs. Go through, then go all the way down the stairs. When you rewatch the bottom, you’ll find a few miners that you can dispatch since they have very slow, yet heavy swings. Deal with them, then use the lever at the bottom to enter a place called the Sunles Skein. From here, you need to raise a portcullis, which requires exploring some thin caverns, eventually taking you to a laddered area with a lever. Feel free to look at the Sunless Skein map you picked up entering the mine near the Vestige to get an idea of where to go.
Once you’re through the Portcullis, your next challenge is to enter a flooded area, and then drain it using the valves. The best way to do this is to enter the Umbral and knock some of the platforms around with Soul Flay. This allows you to create a platform to cross over and activate the lever. With that done, you should also be able to get the Hoist Vestige location. From the Hoist, you now want to move to another mine shaft near a kickable bridge area. When you go through the tunnel, you’ll find one of those fiery swordsmen, a snake sniper, and some more helldogs. Deal with them, and then turn right. This bit leads to another mine shaft area. What you need to do is follow the pathway that leads up to where the bellmage is perched as you enter the room. The reason is that the edge of that contains a drop-down, which leads to a way to open the metal gate door and enter a new area. However, the new area has a boss you need to beat, which has four arms, and does some slow and fast combos. Learn the attack patterns and trade accordingly. When the boss is defeated, you can access an elevator that takes you to Upper Calrath.
Once you’re in Upper Calrath, you can follow the area pretty easily, as it’s essentially an easy-to-follow route, with few Umbral shenanigans along the way. Make your way towards the castle area, and you’ll find the memory in the umbral before the door that leads to the Skyrest. And with that, you can return to the safe hub, speak to Andreas, and you will unlock him as a guaranteed summon on the first attempt you fight the Lightreaper in the Upper Calrath City circular area that your path through to find the book.
