How to Assemble the Dragon Banner¶
This quest begins once you’ve completed Investigate Neretzes’s Folly by speaking with nobles throughout Calradia. You will automatically receive the quest alongside Meet with Istiana and Meet with Arzagos. Before you can complete Assemble the Dragon Banner, you must meet with both Istiana and Arzagos, then find the two pieces of the Dragon Banner at nearby bandit hideouts. You should then have all three pieces of the banner so that you can assemble it. What happens next depends on who you choose to give the banner to.
Should You Give the Dragon Banner to Istiana or Arzagos?¶
When you speak with Istiana and Arzagos, you’ll learn some key information about what they think about the Empire. Neither are particularly enthused by its existence, especially after spending much of their lives serving the Empire and becoming intimately familiar with some of its worst features. However, it’s clear that Istiana would rather see the Empire saved, while Arzagos wants to see it destroyed.
What Happens If You Give the Dragon Banner to Istiana¶
If you decide that you want to give the banner to Istiana, this will confirm your pledge to unify the Empire. You can do this in two ways: join an existing Imperial faction by pledging your support to its leader so that you can help them to establish unity, or create your own faction and forge the path to unify the Empire yourself.
If you want to create your own Imperial faction, you’ll need to meet the following conditions first:
- Your clan must be independent (You cannot be pledged to an existing realm)
- You must be at least Clan Tier 4
- You must have at least 100 troops
- You must own an Imperial settlement to establish as your capital
If you want to join an existing Imperial faction, you can speak with one of the following to pledge your support:
- Garios, ruler of the Western Empire
- Lucon, ruler of the Northern Empire
- Rhagaea, ruler of the Southern Empire
Whatever approach you prefer, once you’ve established that you want to join the Empire and save it, you’ll cut all ties with Arzagos, which means he will begin to actively work against you.
What Happens If You Give the Dragon Banner to Arzagos¶
If you decide that you want to give the banner to Arzagos, this will confirm your intention to destroy the Empire. You can do this in two ways: join an existing non-Imperial faction by pledging your support to its leader, or create your own faction to destroy the Empire with potential help from other non-Imperial factions.
As with the requirements for creating an Imperial faction, if you want to create your own non-Imperial faction, you’ll need to meet the following conditions first:
- Your clan must be independent (You cannot be pledged to an existing realm)
- You must be at least Clan Tier 4
- You must have at least 100 troops
- You must own a non-Imperial settlement to establish as your capital
If you want to join an existing non-Imperial faction, you can speak with one of the following to offer your support:
- Monchug, ruler of Khuzait
- Unqid, ruler of Aserai
- Raganvad, ruler of Sturgia
- Derthert, ruler of Vlandia
- Caladog, ruler of Battania
- Adram, head of Banu Sarran family
- Duwain, member of the Beni Zilal clan
Again, if you intend to destroy the Empire, Istiana will begin to plot your demise.
