How to Make Money in Bannerlord: Join a Faction¶
At some point in your adventures throughout Calradia, you may wish to join a faction before you think about forming one of your own. Not only is this safer than creating your own kingdom, it can also be more profitable. You will have the option to join major battles with your faction’s army, fighting against other armies which otherwise might outnumber or outmatch you. As a result, the rewards can be much greater. Not only is the amount and quality of loot increased from a big battle, but also the number of potential prisoners and the base amount of denars that you will earn by participating. Furthermore, when you enter a battle against a lord, you will be able to ransom the lord for a large sum at the end of the battle if you win.
To begin with, you will only be able to join a faction as a mercenary once you reach clan tier 1. This allows you to gain influence from participating in battles, fighting looters and bandits, and participating in tournaments. As a mercenary, any influence that you gain will be converted into denars at the end of each new day. The more influence that you have earned on that particular day, the more denars you will receive. In this way, participating in battles for the kingdom that you have pledged yourself to is incentivised only by the prospect of earning more denars. Eventually (at clan tier 2), you will be able to obtain the rank of vassal within a kingdom that you have pledged yourself to. This introduces the prospect of owning land, giving you ownership and access to workshops, but also permitting an amount of tax revenue from your settlements and villages.
