Blindingly Obvious is one of the later stage main story quests, which features you, Triss, and a few more mages in the Novigrad region. This kicks off a chain of main story quests, depending on the options you have taken so far. Anyway, here’s a closer look a the Blidingly Obvious quest in Witcher 3, looking at the choices, adventures and more.
Witcher 3 Blidingly Obvious Walkthrough¶
Let’s start out by helping Triss… because she’s everybody’s favorite sorceress. Return to Dandelion’s tavern and head upstairs to the second level where you’ll find Triss in the first room to the left. She’ll scold you, you’ll have to make a timed decision that doesn’t matter, then get down to business.
Learn what you can about Phillipa to find out that the sorceress was under your nose the whole time (their words), but Zoltan’s bad gambling habit complicated things for you. Triss will explain a means by which you might locate Phillipa, after which you’ll get the opportunity to go deal with the blind Sorceress now, or meet up with her later.
Passiflora and the Bathhouse¶
Travel to the Passiflora and Triss will do her magic, allowing you to see an image showing you Phillipa’s location. If you’re romancing her, you’ll see more, then you’ll get to question Triss about your future together. Respond how you will (don’t you dare crush that poor girl’s dreams!) then head to Dijkstra’s bathhouse.
Enter the bathhouse to find out that Phillipa is causing a scene… to put it mildly. After some words with Dijkstra, Triss will agree to remain behind and guard the front entrance while you chase after Phillipa. An unequal division of labor if ever there was one. Oh well. Enter the business end of the bathhouse and dispatch Dijkstra’s possessed henchmen (level twenty-six), then head into the large, private bath to the north-east and climb down a ladder to reach the cellar.
Venture south-west and kill two more of Dijkstra’s goons (level twenty-six) which Phillipa has possessed, then go through a gate and into the sewers to meet Bart, who was also manipulated by Phillipa. Fortunately, his stupidity proves to be a boon to you, as he can be tricked into letting you pass by saying “I want to help her.”… or you can just kill him (level twenty-seven).
Go east through the sewers, following the route you took while searching for evidence during the quest “Count Reuven’s Treasure” . When you come to an open chamber you’ll find Phillipa above you, and she doesn’t intend to go down without a fight. She’ll summon a Fire Elemental (level twenty-six) to keep you occupied - remember to blast it with Aard to remove its fire aura, then cut it down. Once done, you’ll need to head up some stairs, leap a gap and head west towards Phillipa. Move quickly, as she’s going to try to blast you with spells as you go… not that she abstained during your fight with the Fire Elemental.
Blindingly Obvious Best Choices¶
Reach Phillipa and you’ll end up talking to Dijkstra shortly. Pick the following dialogue options:
- “I need her.”
- “Tell you what the emperor’s after if you let us go.”
- “Heard it from Emhyr himself.”
- “Let her talk.”
This will get the two talking about Dijkstra’s aborted conspiracy, and if you completed the quests “An Eye for an Eye” , “Redania’s Most Wanted” and “A Deadly Plot” this should start the quest “Reason of State” . You’ll get to that quest in a bit… but first, loot the Fire Elemental Phillipa summoned, if you care to do so. This completes “Blindingly Obvious” .
If you chose to force you way through Djikstra, then it has some consequences on the outcome of the game. You will not be able to learn more about the plans to overthrow Radovid, which is an important quest, as it affects a few potential outcome of the game involving Ciri. If you’re keen to find out what that is, then remove the spoiler box below.
Being diplomatic with Djikstra can lead to the killing of Radovid. Doing so and being successful results in the possible ending where you can take Ciri to Emhyr, which may lead to the ending where Ciri becomes a kind Empress of Nilfgaard.
If you don’t, then it means that Radovid will by default win the throne and battle of the north. As a result, it removes that ending, which means either Ciri becomes a Witcher, or she is a rather lacking in confidence and leads to the ultimate bad ending.
Objective | Reward |
---|---|
For finding Phillipa | 500 XP |
