Assassin's Creed: Origins

Points of Interest - Qattara Depression

By
Nathan Garvin

Suggested Level: 40

This desolate strip of desert only has a few points of interest in it, and since you never come here for any quests, there’s no reason any of them would have been completed earlier in the walkthrough. Also, since there are no fast travel points in the entire province, some of the points of interest may not be revealed. The only point of interest this should really affect - as long as you’re diligent about claiming fast travel points - is the Hotep Cavern in the southwestern edge of the province.

Poinrs of Interest
Aquifer Oasis
Hotep Cavern
Osirise Stone Circle

Kill the hyenas prowling about the Aquifer Oasis (left) then meditate in a most… unusual spot (right).

Aquifer Oasis

The Aquifer Oasis is north of the Hotep Cavern, just under the “D” and the “E” in the “Qattara Depression” text on your map. This hermit location consists of an oasis in the midst of a depression, near which you’ll find a pack of hyenas. Kill the beasts, then it’s time to get looking for a spot to meditate, so… find some cloth to sit on, right? Not this time, instead, wade into the oasis and find three torches in the water forming a triangle. The spot you’ll need to meditate at is in the water in the middle of the three torches.

Reward: For completing the Aquifer Oasis
+1 Ability Point

Hotep Cavern

You’ll find this point of interest in the southwestern corner of the Qattara Depression province. While appearing as an uninteresting treasure hunt, this area is actually a cavern significant to Bayek, as he’ll relate when you enter the place. It also happens to be the cave out of which Layla Hassan operates in the present day. To find the cave itself, head around to the southeastern end of the mountains, or use Senu to spot a pack of hyenas, who will be in front of the cave. Kill them, then enter the cave and plunder two treasures. Also be sure to search a pile of bones to get a random legendary item.

Reward: For completing Hotep Cavern
450 XP

Find the Osiris Stone Circle (left) and match the constellation with the stars in the sky (right).

Osiris Stone Circle

You’ll find this Stone Circle point of interest west of center of the Qattara Depression, or, when fully zoomed out, right under the “A” in the “Qattara Depression” text on your map. Approach the Stone Circle and match the shape you’re given with the stars in the sky, which can be found below and to the left of the Divine Lion constellation.

Reward: For completing the Osiris Stone Circle

The year is 48 BCE, and both Rome and Ptolemaic Egypt are torn by civil wars. In the chaos caused by this political upheaval, a shadowy conspiracy seeks the mysteries buried under the sands of Egypt, not sparing any who stand in the way of their ambitions. One such aggrieved individual, Bayek, a Medjay from Siwa, now seeks revenge against this secret organization. Ultimately going back to the origins of the Assassin’s Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed Origins is a rebirth of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, adding a vast open world, a revamped combat system and RPG elements to the prolific stealth-action series.
