Assassin's Creed: Origins

A Dream of Ashes

By
Nathan Garvin

Suggested Level: 21

Dark Clouds Over Three Heads

This quest becomes available after “ The Lizard’s Mask “, and you can start it by returning to the seer in the southwestern part of Memphis. Talk to him and Bayek will try to score some dream-interpretations off the guy, but unfortunately the seer is too wise to pass up an opportunity to squeeze some work out of the Medjay. Three people in Memphis are at risk, an adventurer, a philanderer and a beggar, and you need to find them and give them amulets to help them divert this danger.

Three targets scattered throughout Memphis… alright, let’s get ’er done. Have Senu take to the skies and locate the three targets, two of which (one west of the great temple complex and one southeast of the great temple complex, near Reda the Nomad) are stationary, but the third, and northern-most, is caged and being drawn by horses.

Omorfi Villa

Never miss an excuse to clear points of interest, eh? The first of the three people you’re after can be found in the Omorfi Villa, which is, of course, a restricted area patrolled by a number of guards. Kill them, loot the rest chest inside the villa, then free the bound man along the western end of the villa. Fortunately he can walk himself out, although you’ll still have to escort him to the marked location, at which talk to him and give him the amulet.

Reward: For completing the Omorfi Villa
300 XP

Client in the Cobra Cave

Next make your way east to Reda, southeast of Reda you’ll find a pit, which you can drop down to reach the tunnels where the next ill-fated client hides. Follow the linear tunnel ahead, jumping over a root and climbing a cliff when appropriate until you reach some man-made ruins, in which some bandits dwell. There’s quite a few of them for such a small area, so maintaining stealth might be… tricky, but at least you’ll be compensated somewhat in the form of a red chest.

Kill the bandits, then continue north and climb a cliff to reach a watery cavern. Dive into the water, then swim to a ledge to the west, beyond which you’ll find a cobra-infested cavern, as well as the body of the second client. You’re too late to safe his life, but at least the amulet may provide some protection for his spirit. Or not. Either way, job’s done.

The Final Client

Leave the cave any way you wish - if you return to the watery chamber and continue north, you’ll reach the cave with the shrine of Set near the tomb where the sabotaged mummies from the quest “ Odor Most Foul “ were left to stink up the city. From this shrine, you can simply turn west and follow the linear tunnel ahead to reach daylight, probably fairly close to where the third client is. Find her, kill any soldiers nearby, then give her the amulet. She doesn’t seem overly enthused at the gift, but hey, her satisfaction isn’t part of the job description.

Once all three amulets are distributed, return to the seer, who is waiting in a boat east of the great temple. You weren’t able to save everyone, but your debt is still paid, and the seer will now hear your dreams. Sail him east into the Nile, your destination being an island to the southeast. Bayek will speak as you sail, recounting his dream, just be wary of crocodiles as you go, which are fond of interrupting you. When you arrive at the island, go near a makeshift shrine and talk to the seer again who will offer Bayek a cure for his dreams… which will, of course, require a little foot-work on his part.

Sunken Temple of Ramses

Sail or swim to the south to find the Sunken Temple of Ramses point of interest, which, as its name suggests, is another underwater area. Do yourself a favor and use Senu’s powerful bird-sight to locate the objective and the other treasure under the water before you dive, as you can then follow the on-screen markers. The two treasures you need to satisfy to location objectives can be found in the form of a white chest in the interior of a sunken ship, while another, red chest lies outside the ship. The statue can be found on the deck of the ship, to the south of the white chest. Loot these to get the Statue of Khnum you were sent to recover, and to complete the area’s location objective.

Reward: For completing the Sunken Temple of Ramses
450 XP

Sail back north to the island you left the seer on, talk to him, then use Dawn & Dusk to rest at his command to complete the quest.

Reward: For completing the quest “A Dream of Ashes”
3,300 XP

The year is 48 BCE, and both Rome and Ptolemaic Egypt are torn by civil wars. In the chaos caused by this political upheaval, a shadowy conspiracy seeks the mysteries buried under the sands of Egypt, not sparing any who stand in the way of their ambitions. One such aggrieved individual, Bayek, a Medjay from Siwa, now seeks revenge against this secret organization. Ultimately going back to the origins of the Assassin’s Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed Origins is a rebirth of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, adding a vast open world, a revamped combat system and RPG elements to the prolific stealth-action series.
