Suggested Level: 26
Burning the Dead¶
You can pick up this quest by talking to one of the two men on Hotephres’s ship. Once done, fast travel to Euhemeria and head southwest, past the river, to reach a hillside camp where some bodies are being burnt. Superstitious Bayek immediately complains about the eternal ramnifications of burning a few pounds of ape meat quickly going bad, but when you talk to the indicated woman there she’ll give a rational explanation for why the bodies are being burnt. Bayek, every the optimist, decides to investigate.
Head downhill to the northwest to reach a village, where an investigation area will pop up. The woman will explain the context leading up to these deaths, while a priest of Sobek preaches about his god. Foul play seems likely, so use your Animus Pulse and examine a dead farmer, some filthy food bowls, then climb a wall to the north and examine some urns on a shelf, then two large vats of foul food. Return to the woman and talk to her, and she’ll credit an apparently benevolent merchant for the food, and offer to lead Bayek to him.
Follow her and she’ll lead Bayek into - and through - Euhemeria, while speaking of an ongoing trend in Faiyum. The systemic ethnic cleansing and disenfranchisement of Egyptians, which seems more likely to cause intercine conflict between the Greeks and Egyptians than it is to achieve Greek hegemony. Bad for Egypt, but great if you want to stir up chaos.
Eventually you’ll reach the villa, where Bayek will notice that poverty hasn’t caught all residents of Faiyum in its grasp. Head through the villa and to a kitchen in the back, where Bayek will confirm the merchant’s supposed generosity was, in fact, a deadly ruse. Fortunately, the merchant will pick that time to show up, accompanied by two guards. After Bayek clears up a misunderstanding, the merchant drops any pretenses of benevolence and attacks, along with his guards (level 26). The guards are nothing special, and the merchant himself will flee if pressed. Kill the guards, then give chase to the merchant. If you let him run, he’ll try hiding out in the Euhemeria Royal Granary, which… is beyond ironic, given the circumstances. Put him down to end the quest.

Euhemeria Royal Granary¶
If you chased the merchant to the Euhemeria Royal Granary, you might as well clear it out. If not… well, still, might as well. It’s a restricted zone, and sure enough, there are several guards about, but there’s not too much to this place. You can easily hop through windows to take out isolated guards, or climb to the roof to achieve the same. Clear the place out however you wish, then head inside the building to find a satchel on a table, and a large red chest in the corner.
