The further you go into Dead Island 2, the harder the side quests get, especially when they involve the infamous Metro. The Art of War is a quest that takes you back into the Metro and tasks you with defeating tons of zombies, including some that are in close quarters in exchange for a special weapon. The guide below goes over how to start The Art of War and how to defeat all DBD Crew in the narrow train tunnel in Dead Island 2.
How to Start The Art of War in Dead Island 2¶
To start this quest, you will need to have made it to Hollywood Boulevard and cleared The Metro area. To start The Art of War, you will need to speak with Rosa in the Sterling Hotel. She can be found in the bar area. She will tell you about a gang she knew that has a stash in The Metro somewhere. Fast Travel back and proceed into the first area with the two downed train cars.
Where to Find Darkest Before Dawn crew in Dead Island 2¶
Once you are inside the right area. You will need to run to the back, where you will find a laptop sitting on top of some crates. Interact with it, and it will start downloading a file. Sadly, this takes quite a while, and you will need to deal with three waves of zombies. The first wave is the easiest as it contains runners and walkers. Once you’ve defeated the first wave, two Crushers will spawn in, along with some more walkers and runners.
Be careful not to go too far north, as it will end the mission. After the Crushers, a Butcher will spawn in with some more minor zombies, take him down, and the laptop will finish loading and interact with it again to move forward. Before you proceed, use the nearby Blueprint Table to resupply, as the next part of the quest is tough. You will want to go through the door to the left of the laptop. Inside you will find several Bursters use a Curveball to take care of them and proceed through the next door. In the next room, there is another downed train car. Jump inside and trigger the traps.
At the end of the car is a zombie, and another journal pick it up to proceed with the quest. You will now head to your right. Before you go through the door, kill the Commuter Slobber and grab the Subway Car Keys to open the door behind him. Now you will want to proceed inside the door. Once you are in, you can’t exit unless you want to abandon the quest. Walk forward into the narrow tunnel, and you will be ambushed by the Darkest Before Dawn Crew, who are now all zombies with fire abilities. Among them are a Firestorm Slobber, Little Ed and an Inferno Crusher, Two Burning Runners named Javier and Damboy, and a Burning Walker named Noel K.
The best way to deal with this is by using guns and curveballs to pick off the Burning Runners and Burning Walker before they get to you. If you can use your Rage Mode, then take out the Firestorm Slobber, as he will make navigating the narrow tunnel even harder. Afterward, you can easily keep your distance from the Inferno Crusher and pick him off from a distance. Once you are done, pick up the DBD Chest Key and head into the room with a blueprint, there will be a chest in the left corner that gives you the Wildstyle.
Be sure to also grab the Superior Ranged Cremator Mod off of the Blueprint table, and you will be done with everything involving The Art of War.
