Dead Island 2

Michael Anders and the Holy Grail

By
Jessica Dillon

One of the trickery areas in Dead Islands 2 is Monarch Studios if you don’t learn how to use the set effects. This is due to narrow spaces and having to face hordes of zombies. The game actually makes this a relatively fun area to explore once you learn the mechanics. The guide below goes over how to get into and make your way through Monarch Studios in Dead Island 2.

Waiting for the elevator to open in Monarch Studios.

Getting Into Monarch Studios in Dead Island 2

Once you speak with Jesse, you will need to head to Monarch Studios. Once inside, you will find a locked gate, but there will be a clear path through the bushes to get into the studio. The grounds have zombies inside, but nothing that is too overwhelming. There are also a few trailers you can enter to get supplies. The real show starts when you enter the studio itself.

Navigating The Monarch Studios Sets in Dead Island 2

Once you enter the first room of the studio, you will be in a city-like set. Your goal here is to power the breaker box. Wipe out the zombie that’s already in the room, and then climb up the fake buildings on the left side of the room to get the Circuit Breaker.

Jump down and slot it into the breaker box and then proceed down the small path. You will see a special effects station with three different buttons to press. The one on the right will open the doors. Before you press the button to open the path forward, hit the rain effects button in the middle, which will wet the floor, and then hit the Temple Doors button, which will release several zombies.

Opening the temple door will unleash a small group of zombies into the room.

You can use zombie bait to ensure they go to the middle of the room or just wait until a few seconds after they run out and hit the Light Rig Release Switch. This will drop the lights down and electrocute any nearby zombies. Clean up any stragglers and progress through the set doors.

Keep proceeding forward until you reach the next jungle-themed set. This works similarly to the one before it. The special effects already have power in this room, but you will need to push past the first few zombies and go to the back of the set to find the special effects station. Once you do, use some zombie bait to set up a trap and press both buttons to electrocute the gathered horde.

Once again, clean up any stragglers and then head to the left of the special effects booth. Here you will find a door blocked by acid and some jugs of water. Use them to wash away the acid and clear the path forward. From here, you will start tracking Michael again using clues on the ground. There is a small alley with special loot you can go down with two Crushers along the way. Follow the trail until you make it into the third set. This set forces you to jump down into it with no exit and summon the elevator. Of course, this means that you will need to hold your position until the elevator shows up. A few waves of zombies will spawn and use zombie bait and Shuriken to make quick work of them.

There are some Shocking Zombies to watch out for. Aim your Shuriken at their legs to cut them off. If you choose, you can use them as a trap by placing zombie bait around them so that they will electrocute the Walkers and Runners in the room. Once you clear all the zombies, the elevator will come ushering you to the final part of Monarch Studios. Follow the path, and you will find Michael and the area’s boss.
