This page details how to beat Dillon, who is a boss you’ll encounter during The Giant Slayer main quest in Venice Beach in Dead Island 2.
The Giant Slayer Boss Fight: Dillon’s Attacks¶
In order to start this boss fight, you’ll need to head into the boss arena which is a gated parking lot behind some shops in Venice Beach.
Dillon may look scary at first, but for the most part, he doesn’t do much you’ve not already seen before. He’s an Inferno Crusher, which is pretty much a Crusher on fire. He has the same attacks - the ground slam and the heavy hitting swing attacks, but the main difference is that he will also set you on fire at the same time, which will lead you to take more damage over time.
His ground slam attack creates an explosive fiery ring around him that will knock you down and also set you on fire. Like other crushers, Dillon will also slam down twice when you’ve damaged him a lot.
And because Dillon is on fire, you can also lead him into oil puddles near the barrels to create explosions. This will cause some damage to Dillon but will be most useful for dealing with the additional zombies that’ll come into this fight.
How to Defeat Dillon¶
Essentially, other than the fact he’s on fire, Dillon should be dealt with like Becki the Bride and other Crushers, just with a bit more HP!
One of the hardest things about this fight is dealing with the ads that come into the arena. A lot of them are runner and walker zombies so they’ll lunge at you quite a lot. Luckily, Dillon is pretty slow so you can run away and deal with the zombies by guiding them into the flames. You want to deal with the adds first but you also want to make sure you’re doing damage whenever you can to Dillon. Shooting him is a not that effective but it can be a good way of getting in a little damage if he’s far away. The additional zombies will keep respawning when you kill them so this fight is a crash course in juggling the main boss and the adds. You should also use curveball items like Shuriken to do damage from a distance!
Another big bit of advice in this boss fight is to avoid setting yourself on fire. There are a few barrels around the map that you might want to explode to deal with the ads, but be careful not to get hit by the blast. If you find yourself failing this boss fight quite a bit, try to stock up on medkits - there are two just outside the entrance into the boss arena!
The additional zombies will also drop some pretty powerful weapons so make sure to change out your weapons if they’re nearly broken or on the weaker side!
