There are several quests in Dead Island 2, and unsurprisingly some of them are linked. Burt is a side character that you meet in Venice Beach that is part of two quests. The Hero’s Journey is a bit hard to find, though, as it doesn’t show up as a marker on the map, and most players just assume that Burt got killed offscreen before reaching the Blue Crab. The guide below shows you how to complete The Hero’s Journey and where to find Rita in Dead Island 2.
How to Start The Hero’s Journey and Find Rita in Dead Island 2¶
Hero’s Journey is a quest that won’t pop up on your map and has prerequisites. In order for this quest to start, you must complete Coast Guardian and save Burt. Once you do, you will need to hear under the pier in Santa Monica.
You will need to clear out the zombies and then use the crates to climb up to Rita and Burt. After a bit of conversation, Burt sends you to the bathrooms to get his prized Torp and agrees to take Rita back to Carmen.
Where to Find Burt’s Torp in Dead Island 2¶
You will want to head back toward the gated zone and press the button to open the gate. Once inside, the bathrooms are directly in front of you, go in between the row of porta potties, and you will see some breakable crates. Smash them, and deal with the Burster in the small hallway. Once you have defeated him, walk through the passage, and you will see Burt’s Torp lying on the ground.
Grab it, and more zombies will spawn. You can either fight them or run past them. Head back to the Lifeguard Headquarters to find Rita and Carmen reuniting. Rita will tell you that Burt distracted the zombies and is still out on the beach. Head to the lifeguard hut directly south of the headquarters.
Just like in Coast Guardian, the station is surrounded by zombies, including a Butcher. Make quick work of them and then go into the hut to check on Burt. Sadly, he is succumbing to his room but goes out as a hero. For your trouble, you will receive the Guardian Blueprint.
