This page details how to beat Butcho the Clown, the boss you’ll encounter during The Boardwalking Dead story quest at The Pier in Dead Island 2.
Boss Fight: Butcho the Clown’s Attacks¶
Butcho the Clown is a terrifying foe that’ll use his sharpened forearm bones as blades to stab and swipe at you. He is an agile fighter and you’ll need to be quick on the dodging or blocking.
You might be initially shocked to see that Butcho the Clown doesn’t have much HP and you can drain his health pretty quickly. The catch here is that he will run off to feed on dead bodies and regain all of his health…yay!
Other than his quick stabby moves, he may also jump on you to bite and stab at you. Just spam the “wriggle” button to get him off you!
How to Defeat Butcho the Clown¶
The best way to deal with Butcho the Clown is to try to be in close combat with him as much as possible. He is very agile and will jump around to swipe and disengage. Dodging and constantly maneuvering is a good way to get in attacks whilst also avoiding Butcho’s attacks.
When Butcho suddenly runs away, he’s heading over to a dead body to replenish his health! When he inevitably does this, you’ll need to whip out your gun and shoot at him as you run towards him to interrupt his eating! You’ll probably find it difficult to stop him completely, but you can stop him from replenishing his entire health bar! He’ll repeatedly feed on bodies to heal so you’ll need to continually interrupt him until you’ve finally killed him.
He will also occasionally cross his blades across his chest, which will make him temporarily immune to damage. Butcho seems to do this more when you’re shooting at him so you’ll want to get in close range as quick as possible.
Surprisingly, you won’t have to deal with all that many extra zombies in this boss fight. There will be a few but it doesn’t feel too unmanageable, and you can use bombs and other AoE curveballs to deal with them as you run around after Butcho the Clown. When you defeat Butcho the Clown you’ll get a superior weapon!
From now on, you’ll encounter other Butcher Zombies in the wild. They’ll stab at you and also run away to feed on bodies - a very annoying zombie breed!
