Dead Island 2

Where to Find the Brentwood Waste Key

By
Nathan Garvin

Throughout HELL-A you’ll find numerous locked objects - doors, safes, lockboxes, even dumpsters! Whenever you find a locked object, if you examine it you’ll be told what key you need to open it, but you won’t be given any clue as to where you can find it. Most of the time you’ll need to find an kill a [Named Zombie], who will drop a key when defeated. This page will cover how to open the Brentwood Waste Bin by finding the Brentwood Waste Key.

You’ll find the Brentwood Waste Bin in the bowels of the Brentwood Water Reclamation Project.

Where Is the Brentwood Waste Bin in Dead Island 2?

After completing the main quest Michael Anders and the Holy Grail, you’ll exit the Monarch Studios area and return to Beverly Hills, appearing at a waste management plant (Brentwood Water Reclamation Project) along the western edge of the map. Go down some stairs, turn right, then head through a gate to find yourself at the aforementioned plant, where you’ll find a locked gate to the left and a locked door ahead of you. Getting these doors open will be your next goal, and you’ll run across the Brentwood Waste Bin along the way.

Go down the stairs to the right, turn a Caustic Pipe Valve and then a nearby Water Pipe Lever to remove the caustic sludge blocking the way, allowing you to crawl to the west. When you can stand again, do so and look left to find some doors, which are currently sealed for lacking a functioning Breaker Panel. You’ll need to cross the nearby elevated walkway, drop down into a caged-off area and smash some boxes before grabbing a Circuit Breaker and lugging it through a watery passage that surfaces near the aforementioned door. Pop the pilfered Circuit Breaker in the Breaker Panel and the doors will open - oh, and do be wary of zombies while you do all this, of course.

Go through the now-opened doors and you’ll find yourself in a room with two hallways. The door at the end of the left hallway is sealed, and the Brentwood Waste Bin is behind it. To open this door you’ll need to solve the [Justifiable Zombicide Pressure Puzzle], which can be found by following the provided link.

Where to Find the Brentwood Waste Key

As usual, finding a locked object doesn’t mean you can open it, and it’ll be a bit before you can find the key you need - the Brentwood Waste Key. To find this key you’ll need to complete the quest Justifiable Zombicide, which introduces you to the Screamer apex variant. After you’ve defeated your first Screamer and completed the aforementioned quest you’ll be able to encounter Screamers randomly as you explore - including named variants.

Return to the Brentwood Water Reclamation Project along the western edge of Beverly Hills. With luck you’ll run into the Brentwood Staff - a named Screamer. If she doesn’t appear, you may have to leave the area and return. When you find her, kill her, and she’ll drop the Brentwood Waste Key, which you can use to open the Brentwood Waste Bin.
