Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

Best Holger 556 Class & Loadout in MW3

By
Craig Robinson

The Holger is one of the cleanest guns in MW3, with its long-range and recoil control dominating other weapons in its category. Add in the fact that most of MW3’s maps are super large, and you get a gun fitted to take on almost all environments incredibly well. There’s a reason why you’re likely seeing this appear in many people estimations of the MW3 Gun meta. To maximize your chances of dominating, here is the best Holger 556 Class and Loadout in MW3.

A guide on making the best Holger 556 Class & Loadout in MW3 for longer range anchor type AR builds. You will dominate the lanes and map control using this class setup!

Best Holger 556 Class in MW3

The best Holger 556 Loadout in MW3 will require the following class setup.

  • Secondary: Shotgun or close-range SMG of choice
  • Tactical: Stun Grenades or Stims
  • Lethal: Optional
  • Field Equipment: Deployable Cover or Ammunition box
  • Gloves: Scavenger Gloves
  • Boots: Running Sneakers
  • Gear: Ghost T/V Camo
  • Vest: Gunner Vest

The idea behind the playstyle is that the Holger is best used at range. Very few weapons can challenge you, and since your gun is accurate at long-range, MM rifles and Snipers even panic against you if you can land the first shot. This means the ideal playstyle for the Holger is more of a long-range pusher, lane controller, or perhaps an anchor for objectives.

This is why we want to run the Gunners Vest. Deploying with max ammo while playing a longer range and anchor-type lane controller makes sense for this weapon. The advantages you have with the gun mean having more starting ammo will reward you with better map control. You also get better reload speeds for more pressure in more tense moments, allowing you to get back to anchoring. See the stairs on Skidrow, for example, or the sides of the map in Underpass. It also offers you a second weapon so you can equip a shotgun or something like the WSP Swarm for some close-range high fire rate power if you do get pushed into your weak spot.

As for the rest of the kit, the Ghost is handy for hiding on the map from UAVs, so you can keep your advantages from peekers and pushers. Meanwhile, Scavenger is good for picking ammo up while you rotate around the map when necessary to keep your ammo count high. You’ll find opportunities to use this on modes with rotating objectives like Hardpoint or Headquarters more than other game modes, but it still works out well regardless.

Lastly, for other parts of the kit, you want whatever is best for the mode you play. Frags are nice for long-range flushing enemies out of objectives or awkward cover. Thermite can also be nice if you need to cover a potential blind spot from a peeker while you hold another angle. Stuns and Stims or also handy for making it easier to track slower-moving enemies in more pressured situations, and stims are nice for general TTK health restoration with slow regen in place. Field Upgrade is handy for Deployable Cover on harder-to-defend sites, and Ammo Box is good for Sentinel gamers not wanting to risk any Scavenger pickups if you know you’re going to get nice and comfy in an area.

Best Holger 556 Loadout in MW3

To create the best Holger 556 Loadout in MW3, you want the playstyle to support range and recoil over ADS and movement. Here is the list we recommend to support this playstyle best:

  • Optic: SZ Lonewolf Optic - Personal favorite, but you can use any Holographic or 2x scope you prefer
  • Stock: RB Addle Assault Stock
  • Muzzle: Echoline GS-X
  • Underbarrel: Bruen Heavy Support Grip
  • Magazine: 40 Round Mag

The general idea of the build is you want a faster stock to get better recoil control and movement speed. Getting to the spots you need to get to faster will offer you better chances of being where you need to anchor and lane concerto. Not to mention better recoil for long-range fights. The other factors also grant more stability recoil control, kick and aiming aisle sway, undetected on radar for more stealth, and the 40-round mag is great for harder fights at range, or for multi-kill potentials.

Again, you lose ADS and sprint to fire using this build. But again, the best Holger 556 Loadout in MW3 is one that is best pre-aiming and anchoring. So, ADS is not as important compared to more fast-paced and mobile playstyles. With that said, you are now more aware of how to make the best Holger 556 Class in MW3, and how to properly set up this playstyle for success.
