Assault Rifles have always been strong in Call of Duty, and Modern Warfare III is no different. There are six to choose from in MW3, all with different strengths and weaknesses, and the Holger 556 is one that favors the many large maps you’ll find across the game, due to its excellent long-range capabilities and recoil control. If you’re looking to earn the Camos for this gun, you’ll need to complete the various challenges on offer, along with some heavy grinding for the final ones. Slap a scope on that Holger and get ready, because this page will give you all the details you need to complete them!

Holger 556 Challenges Tips in MW3¶
Like with all guns in MW3, you’re looking at a total of eight if you want to complete the whole set, with the first five requiring no grinding from other guns (you will need to do that for the final three). As with any category in MW3, you’ll have to level the gun first to unlock the four base Camo challenges, all of which are the same for every Assault Rifle, these are: Get 50 Kills with the weapon, 50 Kills while using ADS (Aim Down Sights), 15 Headshot Kills, and finally, 25 Kills while in Tac Stance.
The first thing you should look to do is level the gun until you hit max level (so use a Weapon XP Token should you have any) so that all four of the base challenges are unlocked. You can work on all four of these at once and the first thing you’ll notice when taking a look at the list is they mostly all involve a high number of kills. The 50 Kills should come naturally as you level the weapon, and seeing as the Holger 556 favors long-range, you should naturally tick off the 50 Kills while in ADS. 15 Headshot Kills is a bit trickier, but if you’re shooting at range with a decent scope, you’ll naturally score Headshots, and the Holger makes this easy to do, especially if you follow our Best Holger Loadout guide.
The one challenge that may give you some trouble is the fourth one, getting 25 Kills while in Tac Stance. This will mean you will have to change your style of play (since the Holger favors long-range) as you won’t get the kill in Tac Stance unless you’re close enough to the enemy. You don’t necessarily have to be sliding if you’re not comfortable with that style of play, but it does make getting those Tac Stance kills a bit easier.
When it comes to maps and modes, as always for anything involving kills, Hardcore is your friend. Allowing you to down enemies with a single shot at times makes the grind on those kills that much easier, although it may make the headshot challenge a little tougher since you will have to guarantee your first shot is a Headshot. Being a weapon that favors long-range, you can make good use of maps such as Underpass, Invasion, and Scrapyard will favor the strengths of the Holger as will playing on objective-based modes such as Hardpoint where you can hang back and take advantage of players running into the objective.
Holger 556 Gilded Camo Challenge and Higher Mastery Level Challenges in MW3¶
With the base challenges out of the way, it’s time to work on the Holger 556 Gilded challenge, and for this, you’ll need to get three kills in one magazine 10 times. That’s a pretty tough challenge, and the Holger holds a magazine of 30 rounds. To begin with, slap on that 40-round magazine to give you an extra 10 bullets to play with, and then you have two options available to you. The first is to hop on to Hardcore, but that’s risk vs reward as although it’s easier to get the kills, it’s also much easier to get killed yourself before you get the three needed. Instead, if you’re comfortable with the gun by now, pick a map like Scrapyard, pick a lane, and stay at range while you aim for the head to preserve as many bullets as possible. Remember to reload after every 3 kills, it won’t count for the next attempt until you have a fresh magazine.
With the Gilded Challenge complete, you’ll need to complete the Gilded Camo challenge for all other Assault Rifles before you can work on the Holger 556 Forged Camo. As there are six total weapons in the Assault Rifle class in MW3, it’s going to take you a while to get Gilded on all of them. Once you do, return here and you’ll need to get 25 Kills with an underbarrel attachment. For a Forged Camo, this is an extremely simple task as you should be using an underbarrel already, meaning this becomes a task of just grabbing 25 Kills and you’re done. We feel the Bruen Heavy Support Grip is the best underbarrel attachment to go for as it gives you better control of the best features of the Holger.
The real grind begins after you grab your Forged Camo though, as before you can even begin the Holger 556 Priceless Camo Challenge you’ll need to get the Forged Camo for all 36 guns in MW3. With that out of the way, you’ll have to get 15 Kills while mounted, this is a simple task so long as you can find a suitable place to mount, such as on maps like Quarry. The Holger is a weapon that favors long-range, this just makes your shots even more stable. Once you finally have Priceless, all that remains is to grind up to Priceless on all of the other guns and you will unlock the Interstellar Camo for the Holger 556 (and all other weapons), good job!
