This Shinra Combat Simulator match takes place in Chapter 2: Covert Ops, once you’ve completed the main story for the first time.
Participants | Cost | Rank | Rounds | Reward |
---|---|---|---|---|
Yuffie and Sonon | 300 gil | 3 | 3 | Enfeeblement Ring |
Pre-battle Preparations¶
Before you can even begin undertaking Shinra Combat Simulators as Yuffie, you must first complete the main storyline of INTERmission. Once this is achieved, use Chapter Selection to return to Chapter 2 and head down the corridor to find the room to the Simulator is now open.
As far as this first match goes, it shouldn’t cause any issues at all. At this stage of the game, all of these enemies are nothing more than basic Shinra grunts that should be no match for the current power levels of Yuffie and Sonon. Indeed, this match is more useful for it being the easiest way to reach Level 50 and max out your Materia. With that in mind, your setup for beating this match doesn’t matter and you can go with whatever you feel is best (or want to gain AP for), although consider using First Strike to speed things up.
Round 1/3¶
Enemy | Weaknesses | Notable Loot |
---|---|---|
Security Officer | Fire | – |
Riot Trooper | Fire | – |
Elite Grenadier | Fire | – |
Your first battle is a simple one, you’ll be facing three Security Officers, three Riot Troopers and a single Elite Grenadier, all grouped up in the center. This makes this a breeze as you can simply toss Yuffie’s Shuriken at the enemies and use Windstorm on the entire group. If this doesn’t kill them outright, you can toss the Shuriken again and use some Ninjutsu to finish the battle.
Round 2/3¶
Enemy | Weaknesses | Notable Loot |
---|---|---|
Deepground SOLDIER | Fire | – |
Helitrooper | Fire/Wind | – |
The second round isn’t much tougher although the Deepground SOLDIERs can become frustrating with the ability to use invisibility when trying to speedrun this match. Target the Helitrooper in the center first with the Shuriken and use a Windstorm to deal heavy damage to the entire group before finishing it off. From there, it’s just the simple matter of clearing up the Deepground SOLDIERs, noting that it becomes easier to Pressure them once they come out of Invisibility.
Round 3/3¶
Enemy | Weaknesses | Notable Loot |
---|---|---|
3-C SOLDIER Operator | Wind | Turbo Ether |
The final battle can pose at least a little challenge when on the Normal Difficulty. You’ll be up against three 3-C SOLDIER Operators that can cause some trouble if you let them surround you. Instead, keep your distance and use Wind-based Ninjutsu to target their weakness and use Windstorm once you have ATB. Once you’ve built up at least to level 2 of Banishment, unleash it to finish off any remaining enemies and complete the match.
How to Level to 50 and max AP Fast¶
As mentioned at the top of this page, this is by far the fastest method of reaching Level 50 for both characters and maxing out your AP. You’ll want to do both if you intend to take on Hard mode and the final match of Yuffie’s Shinra Combat Simulator. Follow these steps to make the most out of this match:
-
Choose the Easy Difficulty for this match, it doesn’t alter EXP or AP gain and makes it so you can clear the entire match in 20 seconds. Every round can be won by tossing the Shuriken and using Windstorm.
-
Use the Steel Reaper for Yuffie with the AP Up ability unlocked.
-
Equip the Ninja Armlet and Volant Armlet on each of the characters for the AP gain they offer.
-
Make use of any AP Up Materia you have (you can earn a total of two in INTERmission).
-
Consider levelling these Materia for Hard Mode/Yuffie’s superboss: Elemental, Magnify, Revival, Fire, Chakra, Prayer, multiple HP Up, multiple MP Up.
