Focused Thrust

This is a Weapon Ability you’ll come to rely on for the majority of the game. This is Cloud’s main way of increasing the Stagger gauge so always look to use it whenever you see an enemy is Pressured as it will cause the gauge to increase faster.

Evaluation

The Buster Sword is a fairly competent Sword in the early parts of the game and if your main priority with Cloud is Physical Attack power, you’ll be sticking with the weapon until you unlock Hardedge in Chapter 9 where it’s easily outclassed. The Buster Sword however suffers once you reach Hard Mode, it’s final Weapon Level lacks the ever useful Reprieve ability or Attack Spells MP Cost Reduction 20% from the Mythril Saber.

When spending your SP on the Buster Sword, focus on obtaining the new Materia slots first followed by some of the more unique abilities such as MP Regeneration and Limit Break Damage boost.
