The Magic Urn is a fiend that can be found in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth. It is a special enemy, as it’s not really a normal encounter, although it is very common. The urn has a number of eyes on it and if you attack the correct one, then the Magic Urn will give you an item. However, attacking the wrong one will cause it to explode, damaging the entire party for around 2,000 HP or so. There is no set pattern, as it is completely random which eye will yield a prize. If you happen to use Steal on the middle eye, then the Magic Urn will retaliate with a stronger explosion, likely killing the entire party on a first visit when the cavern is first accessible.
The items that can be received depends on the eye attack, as the middle eye yields the following: Phoenix Down, Stamina Tablet, or an Elixir. The outer eyes will yield the following items: Phoenix Down, Soul Spring, Frag Grenade (x4), Lunar Curtain (x3), or Silver Hourglass (x4). Despite having an HP value listed above, only Yojimbo’s Zanmato or Doom will actually kill the Magic Urn.
