How To Unlock¶

Strategy¶
As the first actual Monster Arena boss you unlock, the Chimerageist is definitely the easiest one. Its entire moveset is predictable, and most of it can be negated through the use of the NulElement spells. The first attack from Chimerageist will always be random, pulled from its repertoire. Outside of that, it will use Megiddo Flame first, then either Blizzara or Thundara after that. It will follow up those spells with a physical attack, and the last move in the pattern will be Aqua Breath. As you can see, apart from the physical attack, the rest of the moves are elementally charged, with each one being a different element.
Because of this, it is possible, depending on if you built your characters a lot, to take down the Chimerageist upon unlocking it. The only thing you will have to watch out for is the normal attack, so you will want to cast Protect on everyone. Since Auron typically has the highest HP value at that point in the game, tossing Protect on him and using something like Guard/Sentinel, that should mitigate the physical attack a lot. Note that the Chimerageist is susceptible to all of the Breaks, but resists them a bit. Auron’s Banishing Blade works wonders here to inflict them all, as well as a Frag Grenade item/Mix from Rikku.
