Strategy¶
Looking at Jormungand, you should have an idea of what to expect, at least in terms of something that petrifies. That comes in the form of Cold Stare, which does damage and will inflict petrification. Note that if the damage it does would KO the target, then the character will shatter and be ejected from the battle. It is best to have Stoneproof on every character to avoid this, since being limited to one or two characters is something you don’t want. The other move it has is called Space-Time Vorpal, which will deal damage to the entire party.
Note that if a character is petrified, then Jormungand tends to prioritize attacking that character over the others. This boss has a high magic defense, but it is susceptible to all of the Breaks, even though it has high resistance to them. That means if you wish to inflict them, you might want to bring in Auron and have him use his Banishing Blade Overdrive. Also, if all you wish to do is Armor Break, then a Frag Grenade (item or Rikku’s Mix) will work there. Jormungand is also susceptible to Slow, so that will help your characters get a lot more turns.
