Bravely Second: End Layer

Towns and Cities

By
Vincent Lau

The town of Gathelatio is brand new to Bravely Second.

During your journey, you’ll end up visiting many of Luxendarc’s unique towns and cities. As some of the few safe havens from the dangerous wildlife and the Glanz Empire’s forces, you can expect a lot more hospitality and things to do besides cutting down foe after foe.

The Adventurer

Besides the regular townsfolk who offer words of wisdom or random nonsense, there’s one person who’s very different from the rest. Identifiable from their bright orange getup and the hat with a little “s” symbol on the bottom screen map, this person is the Adventurer.

By speaking to the Adventurer, you can access the Save menu, where you can of course save your game, but also access communication functions like Update Data and Add Friends. In addition, you can buy items from the Adventurer–the stock depending on how much of Fort-Lune you’ve rebuilt.

Hidden Items

Compared to towns from other RPGs, the towns in Bravely Second are fairly straightforward and you can easily see everything from a glance. That said, each town includes a bunch of hidden items secretly tucked away in various places.

In our guide, we’ll let you know where all of these items are, roughly. However a good rule of thumb is to look around places that are suspicious, corners or dead ends. Should you see an “Inspect” prompt appear suddenly, that’s probably your cue to pick up a hidden item!

The Inn

Whenever your heroes are worn out from battle (or, worse, completely wrecked), you’ll want to rest in the local inn, as indicated by the bed icon on the bottom screen map. For a small price, your party’s HP and MP will be fully recovered and all status ailments will disappear (including KO).

Although it can be a bother to return to the inn when you’re in the middle of a dungeon, there’s no denying that the inn is one of the cheapest and most convenient ways of restoring your characters. In addition, sleeping in the inn changes the time of day to day, in case you’re afraid of the dark.

Shops

Each town is home to a Trader (denoted by the potion icon), Armory (sword and shield icon) and Magics store (staff icon). Whenever you arrive in a new town, always make it your duty to check these three shops for new and improved items, gear and spells.

Shops accept pg, which you can find from chests or by winning battles. You can also sell unwanted items for pg, but note that you only receive a quarter back, so think carefully. Sometimes you may not have enough pg to buy everything, but that’s alright–you can always come back later.
