Bravely Second: End Layer

Side: Knight vs Ninja (Part 1)

By

Heinkel and Kikyo

The way of the Knight or the way of the Ninja?

Bravely fans may remember the murder mystery sidequest involving Kikyo the Ninja in Bravely Default; well, it seems wherever the Ninja goes, mystery is bound to follow. To begin this new mystery case, speak to the man to the left of the inn in Yunohana.

While Yew and friends are enjoying another delicious meal, their attention is suddenly drawn to a bizarre pair of characters–Sholmes and Whittson. In particular, Edea cannot contain her disbelief when she hears what her former allies Heinkel and Kikyo are doing now.

Just when things couldn’t get any weird, Heinkel arrives and mentions that he’s currently dealing with a murder at Starkfort. Not only that, but a message comes flying from Kikyo informing that she’s also involved in the case.

Since you’ve got nothing better to do(!), you may as well head to Starkfort to see what’s going on. Exit Yunohana and head due west until the mountains towards the north give way. Afterwards, head north along the plains and enter the ominous fortress at the far end.

Starkfort Exterior

You’ll start out just outside the fortress itself. Before entering, head for the open ground to the far east. Hug the corner just below the cat for an Earth Drum . Then run left to the opposite corner and carefully search around a Cat Feather . After that, enter via the entrance to north.

Floor 1F

To nobody’s surprise, it seems you’ll have to fight your way through to the crime scene. From the entrance, first head towards the south-west corner for a chest with an Ether inside. Next, run to the south-east corner to find a dangerous Bomb Fragment lying on the floor.

After that, make your way towards the upper half of the floor. Like in Bravely Default, there are three routes you can take through the dungeon: via the stairs directly north, the stairs to the north-east and the stairs to the north-west.

Only the middle stairs take you to the top of the dungeon, so leave those for last and pick one of the stairs to the side instead. We’ll go with the north-west stairs first–this is the one that used to lead to the Salve-Maker (who’s strangely absent from this game).

Floor 2F

West Wing

Upstairs, follow the corridor all the way south, ignoring the path to the left, to find some Dried Remora on the floor. Whoa, who left that there? Next, take the path you previously ignored, which will lead you to a flight of stairs going up.

On the third floor, head all the way right to discover a chest with a Sugarloaf helmet inside. That’s everything along this route, so return to the first floor and ascend the north-east stairs. For reference, this route leads to the place where our heroes found Egil in Bravely Default.

East Wing

Like in the west wing, begin by heading south, but follow the path on the right to avoid a dead end. Eventually, after turning the corner, you’ll come across a chest containing 1200 pg . …And that’s all, folks. Go back to the ground floor and this time head up the middle stairs.

Central

The real journey begins here and it appears somebody’s done some renovating. Head south from the stairs and when the path splits in three directions, follow the left-side path for a Phoenix Down on the ground. Next, take the right-side path to reach stairs going up.

Floor 3F

You’re almost halfway there. From the stairs, head north into a circular corridor. First, make your way east to the south-east corner for a chest with a potent X-Potion inside. Next, head west towards the opposite corner to identify another of those blue locked chests .

There’s nothing else you can do here for now, so it’s time to head up. Follow the corridor north towards the north-west corner and ascend the stairs there. Upstairs, you’ll be in an exceptionally small room that’s home to a chest containing a generous 1500 pg .

Go back downstairs and head east along the upper corridor to reach the final corner, where a second flight of stairs can be found.
