Bravely Second: End Layer

Bravely Second

By
Vincent Lau

The feature named after the game or the game named after the feature?

When you’re absolutely desperate or when an extra turn would be immensely useful, press START or SELECT and yell “ Bravely Second “! Time will stop for everyone except you, allowing you to calmly input and issue commands, even during the middle of a turn.

But all good things come with a cost–and in this case, it’s Sleep Points (SP) . For each action performed while Bravely Second is acive, SP will be spent instead of BP.

Technical Details

You can trigger Bravely Second at any time during battle–most notably in the middle of a turn. Doing so will freeze the battlefield, although of course any actions currently being performed will still carry on to completion. During this time, you can issue commands like normal, but to one character.

While Bravely Second is active, every time you spend BP (whether it’s for an action or an ability that costs additional BP), SP will be expended instead. Unlike BP, SP is shared among your party; you can view your current SP in the bottom-right corner of the bottom screen.

Afterwards, time will flow again and the character you selected commands for will instantly execute their commands. This is particularly useful when your party is about to be floored and you can’t afford to wait or if you overextended and failed to defeat a tricky enemy.

By the way, a secondary effect of Bravely Second is that all attacks will hit for critical damage ; in addition, the damage cap of 9999 will be increased up to 999,999 . When you’re about to unleash a terrifying Special Move, consider using Bravely Second prior.

Gaining SP

SP can be gained naturally. For every 8 hours of game time or time that your 3DS/2DS is asleep with Bravely Second running, you will gain 1 SP. Although 8 hours is a long time, you can also use this idle time to help rebuild Fort-Lune, killing two birds with one stone!

If you’re the impatient and/or rich type, there’s a way to instantly recover SP–and that’s by using real cash . By accessing the SP menu during battle or on the field, you can purchase SP Drinks , which replenish 3 SP, from the Nintendo eShop. You won’t ever need to do this, though.
