Preparations¶
In the previous game, the crystal temples were the site of many arduous boss battles. Until now, the temples in Bravely Second have been peaceful and free of combat, but things are about to change very soon…
Helpful as always, the Adventurer is standing towards the west, in case you need some assistance. Since you had to frequently change your party setup on your way through Geyser Grotto, double check that your characters are back in your favourite and most effective jobs.
Once you’re ready to battle, head forth and enter the altar ahead. Beyond, hurry to the left, towards the shining crystal of fire to inspect its condition. Hmm, something’s not quite right… But before you’ve got time to ponder, an old friend comes walking in.
Boss: Janne Angard¶
Level | HP | Weakness |
---|---|---|
34 | 20000 | Nothing |
You fight Janne alone during this rematch, but you still need to be careful. The Fencer starts by using Stalwart Aurochs to enter Aurochs stances, boosting his defences. While he’s in this stance, avoid using physical attacks as he will counter with Stampede.
Instead, hit him with magic-based attacks. Alternatively, you can boost your party’s physical defences with Astral Magic, then have your own Fencer or other sturdy characters take pot shots. Depending on your party, the first half of the battle can be painfully slow.
Once Janne drops below half HP, he will use Blazing Wolf to swap to Wolf stance; because of Muscle Memory, he will retain the defensive boosts from Aurochs stance. Next, he’ll Brave for two attacks and go immobile for one turn. Default to weaken the hits, then batter him senseless!
Stopping the Kaiser¶
Having trounced Janne a second time, exit the Temple of Fire and use a Teleport Stone to return to the entrance of Geyser Grotto. Outside, a cutscene will trigger. To chase after the kaiser, the gang needs to find a way to cross the open seas to Florem.
There’s no way your little rowboat can make the journey, so the only recourse is to return to Yunohana to devise a new plan.
