There are currently 32 known Charms that can be equipped to your Attache Case using a Typewriter in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Two of these are associated with pre-order bonuses for the game, but all of the others can be acquired by exchanging Silver and Gold tokens for charms of Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary status. These tokens are earned by completing Shooting Range challenges, so be sure to check our pages on those if you need help.
All Charms and Their Effects in Resident Evil 4 Remake¶
As noted above, there’s a total of 32 charms that you can acquire in the Resident Evil 4 Remake, but if you didn’t pre-order the game you will only have access to 30 of them, at least for now until the other two (and potentially others) are released as standalone DLC or obtainable in some other way in game. We’ll show you all of the available charms and how to get them on this page.
How to Get New Charms in RE4 Remake¶
The only way to acquire new charms in the Resident Evil 4 Remake currently is to exchange them for silver and gold tokens at one of the shooting ranges. You’ll encounter the first shooting range during chapter 3, but there are three others that you can find later in the main story as well. Once you encounter a shooting range, the challenges associated with it will become available at all of the other shooting ranges. For example, the final set of challenges can be accessed from the first shooting range once you’ve discovered them for the first time.
You’ll need to complete the shooting range challenges at various levels of competency to earn silver and gold tokens. You can exchange three silver / gold tokens (or a combination of both) at a time to receive new charms, and the more gold tokens you use, the better the chance of receiving a rare, epic, or legendary charm will be. You can equip up to three charms at once to your Attache case, giving you the option of combining three different types of perks / buffs for your playthrough.
Best Charms in Resident Evil 4 Remake¶
The best charms to use will be different for each player depending on their playstyle. However, there are some clear winners which will improve your overall experience in combat, or which will help you more than others if you’re struggling in particular encounters. As you can see from the tables below, there are a lot of charms to choose from between the common, rare, epic, and legendary categories. You can easily acquire some of the rarer charms early on (from Chapter 3) if you focus on perfecting your performance in the first three shooting range challenges.
As you might expect, it’s difficult to beat the two legendary charms for the perks they offer. The extra +8% run speed from the Striker charm is particularly useful when you need to kite a tough enemy, or a group of enemies, and it can really help to give you some breathing space when you need it most as you reload or reposition. The -1 gunpowder used when crafting from the Cute Bear charm is also incredibly useful to save on resources when crafting ammunition throughout the game, especially since gunpowder is used for most of the different ammo types.
Aside from these rarest of charms, most players will also benefit from the +20% melee critical hit rate from the Illuminados Emblem charm. You’d be surprised by how much 20% can do in terms of increasing the frequency of your crits, and it will not only allow you to tear through groups of enemies more quickly, but also dispose of elite enemies and bosses more efficiently. The Merchant and Rhinoceros Beetle are also among the most useful economic-based charms, but you only need to equip these when you’re actively trading for them to be useful.
There are various other charms which focus on increasing the bonuses from crafting different types of ammo, and improving the healing effect from various items such as eggs and vipers, but these are only useful in specific situations when you find that you have enough of these in your inventory to justify equipping the charms. A more useful general charm is the Ada Wong, which grants 30% off body armor repairs. Ultimately, there will be discrepancies between different players in terms of which charms tend to be the most useful, but in general you’ll want to stick with those which provide more generic buffs, rather than perks which relate to specific items.
