In Chapter 6 of the Resident Evil 4 Remake story, you’ll encounter the Chainsaw Sisters in the house where you ask Ashley to enter the locker. As soon as you acquire the wrench a cutscene will play, leading to a fight where you not only need to kill the sisters, but also other villagers who will ambush you from behind. We’ll show you how to survive the encounter on this page.
How to Defeat the Chainsaw Sisters in Chapter 6 - Resident Evil 4 Remake¶
The Chainsaw Sisters are similar to the other chainsaw-wielding villagers that you’ve already encountered in the story, in that they’re much tougher than regular villagers, and they can kill you in just one or two hits with the chainsaw. It’s essential that you don’t allow them to hit you even once for this reason, and there are a number of things you can do to reduce the chance of this happening. The sisters will both spawn relatively close to you when the initial cutscene ends, so you need to be ready to defend yourself either by shooting both in the head with a powerful weapon to stagger them, or throwing a grenade in front of them.
Stagger the Sisters With Grenades and Headshots¶
If you stagger both sisters while they’re together, you’ll have some free time to shoot one of them as much as possible without worrying about being hit. We’d recommend focusing on hitting just one of the sisters first, since the sooner you get one down, the easier it will become to avoid the other. However, you need to keep in mind that there will be other villagers entering the building through the door behind you, so you should be ready to kill them quickly with headshots. Some of these will inevitably transform into villagers with tentacled heads, so you may need to shoot them more after you think you’ve killed them once.
Keep Moving!¶
The most important thing to do during this encounter is keep moving around the building. The last thing you want is to be cornered, especially when you’re reloading. You should find that you’re able to keep shooting one of the sisters in the head as they approach without them reaching you before a reload is necessary, but this will depend on which gun you’re using and how much you’ve upgraded it. If you have them, the W-870 Shotgun and SR M1903 Rifle are both good options for powerful guns at this stage in the game, and they’ll bring down the sisters much faster than your pistol. Just be ready to run to the other side of the room when you need to reload.
Use Your Knife to Parry Chainsaw Attacks¶
As you try to survive while hitting the sisters, you may find that you become overwhelmed by villagers. It’s a good idea to throw grenades at groups of villagers if necessary, and always watch your back to avoid being grabbed. A well-timed grenade can deal with multiple villagers while also inflicting damage to the sisters, but you won’t be able to rely on using too many of these, so you’ll have to get used to avoiding both the sisters and the additional enemies by kiting them.
If you find that you’re cornered in a position where there seems to be no way out, and the sisters are approaching with their chainsaws, you can actually parry their attacks using a knife. This will only last for a short period, however, and your knife will soon become too damaged to wield, so don’t rely on this method too much. Think of it more as a Get Out of Jail Free card.
So long as you keep moving and you make good use of your knife, grenades, and powerful weapons to bring down the sisters swiftly, you’ll be able to stop the flow of regular villagers and end the encounter. The key here is to keep shooting the sisters at any chance you get. The longer they last, the more danger you’ll be in as more villagers flood the building.
