Resident Evil 4 Remake

RE4 Remake Best Rifle

By
Ben Chard

Resident Evil 4 Remake offers a plethora of weapons, a total of 29 weapons are there to be had and unless you plan on playing multiple New Game+ you will have to make a choice on what you upgrade and use. There are two Rifles for you to look over before deciding what to go for.

There are two rifles to choose from in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

#1 - Stingray

Now with a new name for Resident Evil 4 Remake (previously the Semi-Auto Rifle), the Stingray is our winner of the best of the two rifles in the game. It should be noted that both rifles fill different niches, and you can’t go wrong with either, it’s purely down to your necessary needs.

Being a semi-automatic rifle, the Stingray is useful for the increased speed of the enemies in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Rifles are powerful by nature, so lacking the extra firepower of the SR M1903 is not a big deal but being able to fire multiple rounds off while still in your scope can be a literal lifesaver, especially in certain encounters (like protecting Ashley in the Castle during Chapter 7).

The downside to the Stingray is that you’ll need to wait until Chapter 7 to purchase it and the fact that it deals less damage when fully upgraded than the SR M1903. Still, most enemies will still die from a headshot from the Stingray.

You can obtain the Stingray from the Merchant in Chapter 7 by purchasing it with money.

#2 - SR M1903

Another weapon that now has an official name with the Remake, the SR M1903 is the first Rifle in the game and is a bolt-action rifle. This means you’ll need to reload after every shot and it’s a much slower weapon than its semi-automatic brethren. The trade-off, however, is that the SR M1903 is by far the most powerful of the two rifles and when fully upgraded, is useful at dealing heavy damage to bosses when there are openings.

The downside are that it is indeed slow, and every time you shoot, you’ll need to load the next bullet which will take you out of your scope. This can be troublesome in certain encounters when you want to move from one target to the next. On top of that, rifles in general are powerful, so even the Stingray will usually kill an enemy with a headshot. Ultimately, you can’t go wrong with either rifle and it’s purely down to if you want more firepower (the SR M1903) vs higher capacity and speed (the Stingray).

You can obtain the SR M1903 from the Merchant in Chapter 2 by purchasing it with money.

CQBR Assault Rifle

There’s no ranking for the Assault Rifle, purely because if you’re looking for information on the best rifle to use, you’re most likely thinking to long range sniping opportunities, and as such, the Assault Rifle isn’t for that purpose.

Still, the CQBR Assault Rifle does need to be mentioned here since it uses, well, Rifle Ammo. As you may expect, the Assault Rifle is a lethal gun that will tear through enemies, all at the cost of massively eating through your Rifle Ammo. It’s a better idea to hang on to the weapon for tough moments against some of the mini-bosses such as the Chainsaw Villagers, Garradors or other nasty encounters.

The CQBR Assault Rifle can also use all of the same attachments as the other two rifles, the Scope, High-power Scope, and a Biometric Sensor, so that’s another theme they all carry. Once you get the Exclusive upgrade for the CQBR Assault Rifle, its firepower isn’t too far off the Stingray, which is tasty indeed for an automatic weapon.

The CQBR Assault Rifle is easily missable, you must return to the Library section you played with Ashley when controlling Leon again and open the cube puzzle in the southeast.
