As you progress through Resident Evil 4 Remake you’ll encounter a lot of difficult enemies, some of which require considerably more effort. Fortunately, you can pick up the W-870 Shotgun relatively early on, but you can miss it at first if you don’t search the area thoroughly. Read below to find out where you can locate the W-870 Shotgun.
W-870 Shotgun Location¶
Progress through the story until you reach the Village Square. When you first enter the area, the “villagers” will be unaware of your presence which allows you to sneak by crouching (new to remake), and take out a few of the villagers without alerting them. At some point, you’ll either get noticed, or a scene will happen where a bagged man wielding a chainsaw comes after you (yes, I did say chainsaw).
This will probably start making you panic, and it should, a man with a chainsaw is chasing you! Now, you can go about this two ways, run for your life (easier method), or defeat the chainsaw-wielding madman (more lucrative). If you’re choosing the former method, run away as far as you can and use the environment to your advantage by getting on the roofs, or barricading yourself in a dilapidated house. If you want to take out the chainsaw enemy, you’ll need to run into the house to the west of the clock tower. This is the first house on the left after the pyre with the rickety fence outside its doorway.
Once you’ve entered the house, pick up the Handgun Ammo and First-Aid Spray on the first floor as well as a couple of barrels to break to the left of the entrance. Now go up the stairs where you’ll find the W-870 Shotgun hanging on the wall at the top of them. To the left of the shotgun is a Grenade in the cabinet, and some Shotgun Shells on the bed at the back.
Now you’re armed to the teeth, you should be able to take out the chainsaw-wielding psycho. Wait for them to reach the top of the stairs while prepping a grenade, and unleash it at them when you see them. This should take out a lot of the other villagers too. Now switch over to the shotgun (default), and aim for its head. You can also aim for its lower leg to make them flinch, giving you time to perform a melee hit on them.
Unload all of your shells into them, and if that isn’t enough switch over to the handgun to finish them off. Defeating the Chainsaw Village will reward you with an Emerald which can later be sold, or combined with other treasures later which increases its value. Note: While you’re up here, you can find a Treasure by jumping out of the window. Head to our All Chapter 1 Treasures page to find out more.
