Resident Evil 4 Remake is jam-packed full of content and starting on April 7th, you’ll be able to download the free DLC for The Mercenaries, an additional mode. This page will give you all the details about what you can expect from The Mercenaries.
The Mercenaries Release Date in Resident Evil 4 Remake¶
It may come as bit of a surprise for fans of the original Resident Evil 4 that the popular Mercenaries mode doesn’t unlock upon clearing the game for the first time. You may have got even more worried when you saw some of the rewards that came from the mode in the game from other challenges (such as the Handcannon coming from beating Professional without using Bonus Weapons).
Thankfully, The Mercenaries is still coming to Resident Evil 4 Remake, releasing as a free DLC on April 7th, 2023. As mentioned, this is free for all players of Resident Evil 4 Remake, just simply download the update and you’ll find The Mercenaries on the main menu.
What Characters Are in The Mercenaries in Resident Evil 4 Remake?¶
A large part of what makes The Mercenaries fun is having the ability to control some of your favorite characters, and Resident Evil 4 Remake is no different here. In the original version of Resident Evil 4, there were five playable characters, and all of them return with a new character added into the mix with this remake. The Mercenaries will eventually contain the following characters:
-
Leon S. Kennedy (two loadouts with different costumes)
-
Ada Wong (two loadouts with different costumes, not available at launch)
-
Hunk
-
Jack Krauser
-
Albert Wesker (not available at launch)
-
Luis Sera (new to Resident Evil 4 Remake)
As you can see, the inclusion of Luis Sera as a playable character in The Mercenaries has players excited, and there are plenty of other characters to get to grips with, including the infamous Albert Wesker.
Does The Mercenaries have Coop?¶
Another popular question when it comes to The Mercenaries. Seeing as this game mode is standalone, and is essentially a score attack against time, many players are wondering if there is a chance of coop making it into the game.
Unfortunately, the answer to that question is a simple no, there isn’t. It’s a shame, but, staying to true to the original version of The Mercenaries, Capcom have not included a coop mode for the Resident Evil 4 Remake version of the mode. Of course, there’s always a chance this may get added down the line, but we’ve seen nothing to suggest that it may be in their plans unlike the rumored Separate Ways DLC for Ada.
