Description¶
This page offers information on why players should strive for the 5-star island evaluation. For advice and ideas on how to decorate your island to reach the 5-star rating, head over to the Decorating Ideas page.
5-Star Rating¶
To achieve a 5-star rating you need a balance of fencing, flowers and furniture. You also need to have both the Tailor’s Shop and Nook’s Cranny up and running, as well as at least 8 villagers on your island (the maximum is 10).
The furniture you place should also be a mix of store-bought and crafted items. The most important tip to remember when decorating your island, is that you should spread out your decorations. Isabelle will frequently tell you that to increase scenery the island needs to be decorated from head to toe.
The game cannot recognize if the furniture you’ve placed is put down in a haphazard and incohesive way, it just recognizes if there’s furniture there. Therefore, if you don’t really care about decorating properly, you could earn a 5-star rating just by placing a variety of DIY and store-bought furniture around your island. The game can’t tell if what you’ve done is aesthetically pleasing or not.
Getting a 5-Star Rating¶
When you receive a 5-star island, a number of positive things will happen:
-
When you first receive a 5-star rating from Isabelle, she will give you a DIY recipe for the Golden Watering Can! This watering can is useful because it is more durable and can also be used to cross-breed black roses to make golden roses.
-
The Lily-of-the-Valley flower will start sprouting up on your island. If you maintain a perfect island, then these rare and special flowers will keep popping up from time to time.
-
When you reach a 5-star island rating, Campsite visitors will become more frequent, meaning you’ll meet new villagers and potential residents for your island.
