This is a guide for the “Inescapable Past” Ascension Quest in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It’ll navigate you through the necessary steps to starting the Quest and upgrading Alexandria’s Class, Incursor.
As Colony Iota holds a tech summit with Colony 30, the previous loss lingers in Alexandria’s mind. Some mediation between the colonies is required.

How to Start the Inescapable Past Ascension Quest¶
Ascension Quests will start becoming available once you reach Chapter 5 in the main story. Beyond just simple story progress, there are several other steps for unlocking Ascension Quests which usually involve completing the Colony related Questlines (for Heroes that belong to one) along with ensuring that the Inheritor is at Rank 10 of the Class.
For Alexandria’s Ascension Quest, you’ll need to first ensure that you are on Chapter 5 and that Taion has reached Rank 10 with the Incursor Class. If he’s yet to do this, remember you can use Silver Nopon Coins to raise the levels of a Class. Much like her Hero Quest, you can unlock this Quest way before you’re around the suggested level and it’s usually wiser to wait until Chapter 6 before undertaking it.
The final step needed for Alexandria’s Ascension Quest to become available is to complete the Scant Supplies Quest that becomes available after completing the various quests associated with Colony Iota. Remember to check for Info Fragments to unlock the next Quest in the Questline and eventually you should be able to find the Info Fragment needed for Scant Supplies.
Once you’ve achieved all of these steps, return to Colony Iota with Alexandria in your party to trigger a scene that begins this Quest.
How to Complete the Inescapable Past Ascension Quest¶
Head to Colony 30¶
With Alexandria in your party, make your way over to Colony 30 to trigger a scene with Valdi, the Commander of this Colony. After the initial conversation with Valdi, follow him around the Colony as he shows it off to the group. Valdi will eventually show off Robobuddy and it soon becomes apparent that it’s not as friendly as Valdi had hoped.
Robobuddy is a Lv 57 Agnian Levnis that is nothing more than a regular battle against any other Levnis you’ve encountered to date. It’s even susceptible to Combos so you can simply Topple or Daze it and then lay into it, usually defeating it before it has a chance to react. If you do let it get some attacks on you, expect to suffer the Toxin debuff although, again, the fact that this battle should be over quickly should mean it is of little concern.
Once the battle is over, the group suspects foul play and they decide to retrace Robobuddy’s tracks to whoever programmed it to attack. Inspect the nearby tracks and then follow them, it’s a long trek that will eventually take you all the way to the Old Kana Battlefield where you’ll run into an old acquaintance of Alexandria’s that triggers your latest showdown with a Moebius.
