This is a guide for the “Side Story - Eunie” Ascension Quest in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It’ll navigate you through the necessary steps to starting the Quest and upgrading Eunie’s default Class, Medic Gunner.
Side Story - Eunie unlocks in Chapter 5 in the City.
It appears Colony 5, now at Gold rank, can’t be contacted. Meet up with Bolearis and investigate.

How to Start the Side Story: Eunie Ascension Quest¶
If you’ve been paying attention to the Hero Roster in the System menu, you’ll have noticed that there are Ascension Quests in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Completing these Quests will release the Rank cap on that particular Hero’s Class, allowing you to take it to Rank 20. On top of this, each of the main characters have a side story that will release the Rank cap on their default Classes.
You’ll find an Info Fragment here that leads to unlocking this Quest.
Eunie’s Side Story is the first one you can complete, and you’ll be able to begin it by reaching Chapter 5 in the main story and progressing until Monica gives you the Castle Access Quest. During this Quest, you’ll be sent to speak to Timna in the City and just outside, you’ll find an Info Fragment. Discuss this at the City Camp to begin the Ascension Quest.
How to Complete the Side Story - Eunie Ascension Quest¶
Head to Colony 5¶
Your first task is to meet up with Bolearis in a part of the Pentelas region you’ve most likely never been to. The easiest way to access this area is to return to the Seilas Terrace Camp Rest Spot in the Fornis region and start heading southeast as far as you can, you’ll know you’re on the right path if you see enemies that are Level 40+.

You’ll appear at the Pelza’s Pass in the Pentelas region. Head to the south here and you’ll trigger a scene where the party will meet up with Bolearis just outside the cave. As you make your way through the cave, you’ll have to deal with a few critters along the way and you’ll eventually run into a group of Colony 5 Soldiers. Begin the fight, deal some damage and it will come to an end when they realize you’re here to help them.
Be sure to send off the Soldier Husks that are scattered around here and then press onwards towards the objective marker. Make sure you’re prepared as when you step through, you’ll come face-to-face with the evil that happened here, prompting a difficult battle with Moebius!
