Boss Fight: Moebius D & J

By
Ben Chard

This is a guide for the Moebius D & J boss fight in Chapter 6 of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, taking place at the Cloudkeep in the Upper Aetia Region.

Moebius D & J is the final battle of Chapter 6.

How to Beat Moebius D & J

A final showdown with Moebius D & J is the final battle of Chapter 6, and it’s one that you should be well used to by now. You’ll find yourself at the bottom of the Cloudkeep now but different location aside, the battle against Moebius D & J is virtually the same as all other encounters against them, especially the one at Keves Castle at the end of Chapter 4.

You’ve even seen the majority of Moebius D & J’s Arts just a moment ago via Moebius D’s Arts. If you need to learn more about those Arts, take a look at that boss page, otherwise, you can learn about the new Arts available to Moebius D & J:

  • Beyond Death: Moebius D & J rise in the air, conjure a sword and then slash forward in a line, dealing moderate AoE damage and inflicting Shackle Healing along with a chance to Topple.
  • Sanguine Fire: Moebius D & J buffs himself, granting him increases resistances and a slow HP regen.

As mentioned above, you’ve done this battle plenty of times by now that you should know how most of Moebius D & J’s Arts behave. Doom Rain and infernal Call return from the Keves Castle battle and Doom Rain is the deadliest it’s ever been with the overall damage upgrade that Moebius D & J have had. Likewise, Chaos Arch can cause plenty of trouble if you happen to have your party lined up perfectly for them.

There are two new Arts that Moebius D & J brings to the table. The first, Beyond Death, has a long wind-up to the Art, but once they perform it, they’ll slash through a line in front of him dealing AoE damage but more crucially, also Shackle Healing. This will prevent any healing on that character until the debuff wears off and is particularly dangerous in a battle where Moebius D & J will keep Blaze up on you for the majority of the battle with Arts such as Doom Rain and Unstoppable Spear. If it catches you at a bad time, you may need to use a Chain Attack to give yourself some time to heal up.

(1 of 2) Beyond Death will prevent you from receiving healing

Beyond Death will prevent you from receiving healing (left), Sanguine Fire will add a small HP regen to them. (right)

The other new Art, Sanguine Fire, is a buff that will not only increase their resistances but also add a small HP regen, if you see Moebius D & J prepare this, try to Break them to knock them out of it. Outside of these new Arts, this is the same battle as back at Keves Castle, just with the damage turned up. Keep an eye on anyone with low HP and Blaze on them and save your Chain Attacks for moments where you may need a heal up.

Watch the scenes that unfold once you defeat them and you’ll find yourself back at the Queen’s side, who finally gives you her name, Nia.
