The world of the Battle Royale belongs, in the main, to games played with a third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective. Call of Duty has shied away from that viewpoint for many years now but Modern Warfare 2 sees the return of a mode played exclusively from this perspective.
The Third-Person Moshpit, while fundamentally Call of Duty, somehow plays differently, perhaps even attracts a different crowd of players, but still manages a level of frantic gameplay that Call of Duty provides so well. But is it just a militaristic Fortnite?
Let’s find out what’s so good about it?
The Right Perspective¶
Giving players a more panoramic perspective changes the game. Totally. You are still going to run around corners and get picked off by that kid who has been hiding in a room waiting for somebody to come along, but now you can see who’s got you. While you can still get sniped from across the map this seems to happen less here and the emphasis is more on gunplay in tight urban spaces.
Hey Good Looking¶
For the first time, you can truly see your Operator in action, something that is less obvious in normal game modes. Other players might not notice your digital camo generally but it will stand out beautifully for everybody in this mode. As we get to add whatever collection of useless charms that come in the Season 1 Battle Pass, or finally complete our grind for gold weapon camo, well at least it now feels as though somebody other than you might be admiring it.
How To Enable Third-Person Mode In CoD MW2
You don’t have to enable it as such, It is only available in the Third Person Moshpit multiplayer mode, where it will be activated automatically. From there on in you can swap the should you are looking over with a push of a button which allows you a method of widening your perspective still further.
Beyond that, that’s it. It’s a third-person mode and it works like a charm.
Is MW2 Third-Person Mody Any Good?¶
We actually like it and a host of top players and streamers like it too. We wouldn’t play it day in, day out over regular CoD but as a break from the grind, the 10-minute 6v6 battles fly by and are a good way to keep building your XP if things are getting a little stale elsewhere. Give it a try, we don’t think you will be disappointed.
Top Five Third-Person Moshpit Mode Tips And Tricks¶
Unlike other big third-person battle games such as Fortnite the maps here are tight and thought out. Fortnite tends to give you a large map and gradually pull players together as the round goes on. Here, you can be dead within seconds. Here are the best tips for staying alive in Moshpit Mode.
-
Use cover. Playing this mode for any length of time will highlight how easy it is to be exposed to enemy fire. We got shot in the foot under a truck on one map when convinced we were behind hard cover.
-
Team up - Even if you don’t know the people on your team try and stick with them and run where they go. Chances are the other five don’t all know each other and you have a much better chance of surviving in a group. If only because the enemy then has multiple targets, so if you are lucky enough they take out your pal and not you, you can mop them up while their mind is elsewhere.
-
Don’t pass over the sniper rifle - while sniping doesn’t seem as prevalent in the Moshpit we saw people using it as a main weapon and shooting from the hip with it, so we tried it and it does work. Sniper rifles are powerful and with a few attachments can be used quickly and effectively to kill people and small to medium ranges, as well as at long distances.
-
Clear houses and rooms properly - There are a lot of places to hide on the map and we lost track of the times we were killed by somebody hiding in a bathroom of a derelict building. Use Flash Grenades if your sixth sense tells you somebody is waiting for you.
-
Play with friends - similar to point two, but this time with people you actually know so you can coordinate your movements through the maps. Being able to see your group much easier than normal modes enables to you have much more positional awareness than in a regular game of CoD and working directly with people will give you a huge advantage.
