Some of the challenges in MW2 require the player to get Operator Kills. But, it doesn’t really go into detail on what Operator Kills are. To answer the question, its killing an enemy Operator.
What are Operator kills in MW2?¶
The quick answer to this question is killing Operators. Operators are the player controlled character that players can chose in the Operator screen in MW2’s multiplayer. Its the general term for the playable character in those modes. It’s also to differentiate between the generic AI soldiers in some modes as well.
So, when it comes to killing Operators, all it means is you need to kill enemy players in PvP modes. What it doesn’t mean is killing AI. AI are generic troops and do not count as Operators. As do the game modes where the player takes control of a generic solider and not an Operator.
If you play modes in MW2 Multiplayer, such as any quick play, or Ground War mode, you’ll stumble only upon Operators. If you play Invasion, or DMZ you will encounter enemy AI soldiers and not Operators.
Therefore, if you have challenge that requires you to kill Operators, then go into Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer, as that offers the best chances of completing this. For example, the recently released Chimera unlock requires you to get two operator kills with an assault rifle in 15 different matches. Therefore, it means you need to get two kills against an enemy player controlling an operator.
You can technically do this in Warzone 2 and DMZ against other players, however, those modes are more then likely to offer you PvE encounters. So, its more efficient to go into multiplayer lobbies and do it that way. Presuming, of course, that you own Mw2’s multiplayer and are not playing Warzone or DMZ free to play.
Hope this helps you get through your Operator kills in MW2 challenges.
