This page details the Pokétch, short for Pokémon Watch.
The Pokétch is a device that contains various apps (programs) that are handy for exploring or just to kill time.
How to Obtain the Pokétch¶
You’ll receive a Pokétch early on during the story, specifically when you visit Jubilife City.
First, go to the Trainer’s School to give your rival their parcel. Next, try to head north and you’ll be asked to play a little game. Speak to three Clowns dotted around the city. There’s one to the east, another in front of the Jubilife TV Station and another to the west. Then return to the fellow you spoke to.
After receiving the Pokétch, you can obtain additional apps by speaking to various people across Sinnoh.
How to Open/Close the Pokétch¶
Press the R button to bring up the Pokétch. You can then press the R button again to zoom in or out. While zoomed in, you can move the Circle Pad to move the cursor. Move the cursor to the red button on the right and press A to change to a different app.
To close the Pokétch, hold the R button.
Available Apps¶
Digital Watch¶
The default app when you acquire the Pokétch. As you can see, it’s a clock that tells the time. Useful for knowing what time it is in the real world. So you know when to take a break or when it’s time for food, etc.
Memo Pad¶
Use this to write notes or doodle. There’s a pencil for writing/drawing and a rubber for erasing. Useful if you need to leave yourself a reminder. (We’re also expecting some talented folks to draw masterpieces with this.)
Dowsing Machine¶
A radar that indicates whether a hidden item is nearby. When you use it, if the circle oscillates, it means an item is somewhat nearby. If a circular dot appears on the screen, a hidden item can be found in that relative position. To collect the hidden item, press the A button when facing it.
Friendship Checker¶
Lets you check the friendship levels of your party members. Useful for Pokémon that require high friendship to evolve.
Hidden Moves¶
This app contains all the Hidden Moves (replacement for Hidden Machines) that you’ve acquired. From here, you can borrow the help of wild Pokémon to use the selected Hidden Move.
