This page outlines how to obtain the Mythical Pokémon Mew and Jirachi.
New to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you can obtain an exceptionally rare Mew and Jirachi early on, from an old couple near the south-west corner of Floaroma Town, west from the Pokémon Center.
However, you must have save data from another Pokémon game present on your Nintendo Switch.

How to Use Mew and Jirachi¶
Mew and Jirachi are both very low Level when you receive them, so they’ll need some TLC before they’re viable for battle. On the plus side, since they’re Mythical Pokémon, they’re a cut above most Pokémon you’ll have access to during early and mid-game.
That said, it’ll be ages before either of them has access to decent moves. In fact, Mew will be stuck with Pound as its only attacking move until Level 30, when it learns Ancient Power (which is so-so). Although if you have any spare TMs lying around, Mew has the quirk of being able to learn every single TM!
Jirachi is a bit better off, as it can use STAB Confusion right off the bat and gains Zen Headbutt at Level 28, though the former is weak and the latter is plagued with poor accuracy. Likewise, you may have to use some TMs to improve Jirachi’s early and mid-game performance.
